Baskets in the Paint at the half

UConn 10(7-3)
Turtles 9 (2-7)

UConn's foul trouble will likely force KLS to play most of 2nd half. Could be a factor down the stretch when fatigue > adrenaline.

Was watching the game and not reading the board in the first half. How many of our players are sick? Just KLS? Very physical game to have sick players and throw in some foul trouble to boot. Gutsy performance so far.

Collier has 2pts, Samuelson has 6pts(1-6 from 3 pt range), UConn is getting outrebounded 25-16, and UConn is still up 5. We will be just fine in the second half!

I guess Maryland is elementary school then.

You can kid but they are making mistakes bad HS teams don't make. Stupid turnovers for absolutely no reason, such as inbounds, no effort on box outs, Collier can't make a lay up or a 5 ft shoot, etc...

Lou needs to funnel down the Gatorade at the half. Pheesa as well.

Not playing well (although playing hard) yet up by 5. We were outrebounded by Baylor, I believe, and that worked out okay. But illness fouls, cold shooting - locusts next?

Wow, a 9 rebound edge for Maryland. Hopefully we can clean that up. I know I'm sounding like a broken record at this point, though...

Twelve O-boards in a half is a lot to give up. That's gotta be high on the list of the halftime talk. Gabby's 2nd and 3rd fouls were both a direct result of failure to box out.

Only KLS has been confirmed sick by the announcers, but it could be more than just her. Wouldn't surprise me if it was more of the team.

Big assumptions they will play any better and btw it's a team poor game.

I thought the same thing. Weird camera angles too.

I think it's has to do with where the cameras are set up in the arena. The best arena for that, to me, is the Carrier Dome. The worst is this arena and Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

The lights at the scorers table are giving a weird reflection on the court.

Considering that both Napheesa and Lou had such a poor first half, it's utterly amazing that UConn isn't getting blown out, forget having the lead.

Hate to say it but I'm not sure KLS can be an asset in this game. She threw up on the sidelines into a bucket and on the foul line she was panting like a steam engine. Her shots are obviously off and it just doesn't look like she can get it together. I feel really bad for her in that situation with all the pressure to score.

Terrible call on Gabby for 3rd foul. She skies for a rebound, gets both hands on the ball and gets undercut by the MD player, and they call the foul on Gabby.

and, yet, up by 5, on the road, at the #4 team in the country, playing with several ill players. Damn tough CYO team. Better than I ever helped coach.
Thank you, pinotbear.

They will most likely run an IV into her during the half if she is dehydrated.
IV's are usually given when someone is perilously close to dehydration, which can be life threatening. Gatorade is a preventive to avoid dehydration and cramping.
