Karaban in today’s Athletic piece: “Like I admit, there are moments out there when I look weak on the court. So maybe I could’ve gone harder in the weight room. Coach Hurley is doing the same thing. He’s reflecting on what he could’ve done better. We all are. And we’re gonna fix it.”

UConn legend

if this is the Samson Johnson they’re seeing in practice…

I’d be stubborn with continuing to start him too.

Holy hell, best game of his career. His energy and focus were 10/10.

AK Redemption tour begins baby!

Great win.
I think Reed's rise has brought out Johnson's competitive nature. He was huge and really was the reason why we got the lead. That steal and layup was so sweet.

Honestly whatever went on at halftime we need to bottle it.

We played with violence and a chip on our shoulder on both offense & defensive glass. Battled and won the 50/50 balls and scrums.

Like we haven’t even been close to that level of intensity all year. Other than Cam Jones, even the defense was better too.

Shout out to Diarra for running things tonight.
He had too as Mahaney was ho real help. I know he has to play backup PG but he is so slow in processing everything on offense. He missed a couple of changes to take 3s as playing PG has taken out of his mind set.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about Reed replacing Johnson, but where would UConn have been today without Samson Johnson? Diarra is definitely a warrior!

KARABAN!!! Dagger clutch 3! So nice to have AK back.

I will once again make my argument that all games should be played at Gampel. The building looked like a true home court advantage!
It was also crickets when we weren't in a run. Crowd there needs to be more consistently loud when we're struggling.

He played much better D but I was impressed most by him diving on the floor tonight TWICE for loose balls. We’ve been missing that all year.
Exactly. We weren't firing on all cylinders, but collectively it felt like the first time this season we wanted it more and refused to lose. Putting this sort of game on film should really help gain momentum.

That win happened with both Ball and McNeeley having off shooting nights. That’s impressive.
Crazy that the 2 of them together were 7-28. Never could I think they would win a game with that happening. As others said, they won that game on the glass. Outrebounded Marquette 44-29 and 19-8 on the offensive glass.

A bunch of people on this board have been overly critical of him during the shooting slump, despite everything he has done for the program and all the clutch shots he has made this year. Some of the comments after the first St John’s loss we’re pretty disrespectful. I hope they see clearly now he much he has given to the program.
Dude just enjoy the win. We all love Alex. He’s just been terrible at times this year. Objectivity is good

Last time we were saying this was after the Creighton game, and we all know what happened next. Considering our next game is against Seton Hall, let's not mess with the Mojo we got going on
it's over.

Karaban and Johnson Balled out. Diarra gutsy and Stewart playing with great energy and defense. What a win. McNeeley looks slow. Maybe not 100%? He is getting beat on defense easily and can't separate on offense. If he can't shoot I rather Stewart get more of his minutes. Mahaney yikes is not a PG but I guess we have no choice. Ball totally dissapeared in the last 10-15 minutes besides playing good D.
McNeeley 4 for 18??

Then why is this clown on the boneyard?
He just loves hatting on UConn bball. He is never happy. When a lot of us wanted Ollie out I was on his side but then he didn't like Hurley hire even after winning the first one. Freescooter is a definitely not a UConn fan. Maybe he is a Syracuse fan. LOL!

Someone needs to explain to me how Marquette is pegged as a 5 seed and we are an 8/9. We have the better resume even though we have 2 wtf losses.
Maryland W on road, crushed Purdue at home and beat Wisconsin OOC. These are all top 15 teams. We’ve beaten a variety of Nancies OOC.

Big dub. Samson real nice game and AK and diarra played well. As long as we beat seton hall, we lock up 3 seed, avoid St. John’s till final and most importantly, avoid the stupid daytime tip time section of the bracket. lol. Night wave - prime time baby !!!

Well that game is more what I thought we would look like this year. We defended well not great, our freshman star had a tough game but Alex had his back. Ball made a few big baskets. Stewart with probably the put back of the year. Also on Stewart he played the better defense than McNeeley tonight IMO. Mahaney looked ok and in the chat really we all wanted him to shoot the shots he had so that says something about how we feel about his shooting.

Diarra is our heart. Ball is also getting better every game. He gets at least two or three baskets on penetration but still needs a right hand finish. His defense is improving. If it clicks he could really turn into a plus defender next year.

The Reed/Johnson combo is one we do not appreciate as much as we should. I think we are better than Marquette overall. I liked what I saw tonight. Give me some room for optimism on how we might fare over the next three weeks.

I think the BE is a bit under rated as a conference. I think Xavier is a tourney team right now.

As a whole team that may have been our best played game of the year.

Good timing!

Man, the losses vs Dayton, Colorado, Nova and SH still shock me. If this team tonight showed up every night, we would be 25-5 and fighting for a 2 seed.

That being said, no better time to start clicking. And I STILL think there is another level to this team.

He had too as Mahaney was ho real help. I know he has to play backup PG but he is so slow in processing everything on offense. He missed a couple of changes to take 3s as playing PG has taken out of his mind set.

If Mahaney can play 10 minutes give Diarra a rest, score 2 points, have a nice assist, grab a rebound, commit no turnovers and play passable defense, like he did tonight. That's more than we have been getting from the #2 point guard this year. Not over taxing Diarra is big. Anyone who comes in and is NOT a liability at the point guard is big help.

Yes let's finish strong and go for it in the BET. Seton Hall loss needs to be avenged big time.
