Huge onions from AK, great comeback game by Samson, and Mahaney played some serviceable minutes. Not sure why but Liam was a screen door on defense tonight.

I legit just woke up the neighborhood when AK hit that! Then I shed a couple tears. Dude needed and deserved that game.

I said in the chat with 11:22 left this game is going to show what this team is made of and this is going to be AK's game. Think I nailed it for once.

Awesome game from AK and Samson.
You also said you thought we were going to blow them out early in the first half ;)

I thought McNeeley looked like he was dragging a bit. Perhaps sick?
Yeah I wonder if his ankle is bothering him. 4-18 and couldn't play a lick of D and couldn't get any separation on offense. He was awful unfortunately besides his 3s.

Solo didn't have his best, thought he got the TNew treatment at the rim a couple times. But I'll tell you what...he's starting to play better def and he had a tenacity to him tonight. He's gotta learn to be more than a finesse player, he took a step today.
He played much better D but I was impressed most by him diving on the floor tonight TWICE for loose balls. We’ve been missing that all year.

Karaban in today’s Athletic piece: “Like I admit, there are moments out there when I look weak on the court. So maybe I could’ve gone harder in the weight room. Coach Hurley is doing the same thing. He’s reflecting on what he could’ve done better. We all are. And we’re gonna fix it.”

if this is the Samson Johnson they’re seeing in practice…

I’d be stubborn with continuing to start him too.

Holy hell, best game of his career. His energy and focus were 10/10.

AK Redemption tour begins baby!

Great win.
I think Reed's rise has brought out Johnson's competitive nature. He was huge and really was the reason why we got the lead. That steal and layup was so sweet.

Honestly whatever went on at halftime we need to bottle it.

We played with violence and a chip on our shoulder on both offense & defensive glass. Battled and won the 50/50 balls and scrums.

Like we haven’t even been close to that level of intensity all year. Other than Cam Jones, even the defense was better too.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about Reed replacing Johnson, but where would UConn have been today without Samson Johnson? Diarra is definitely a warrior!

KARABAN!!! Dagger clutch 3! So nice to have AK back.

I will once again make my argument that all games should be played at Gampel. The building looked like a true home court advantage!
It was also crickets when we weren't in a run. Crowd there needs to be more consistently loud when we're struggling.

Exactly. We weren't firing on all cylinders, but collectively it felt like the first time this season we wanted it more and refused to lose. Putting this sort of game on film should really help gain momentum.

That win happened with both Ball and McNeeley having off shooting nights. That’s impressive.
Crazy that the 2 of them together were 7-28. Never could I think they would win a game with that happening. As others said, they won that game on the glass. Outrebounded Marquette 44-29 and 19-8 on the offensive glass.
