March madness round two Sunday

Well I’m rooting for whoever wins this game to beat Duke. So a St John’s V Duke game would not be fun.
Duke would annihilate Kansas, well it's the tournament you play who you gotta play let's just win tonight.

About 20% of this board is so invested in the failure of the Big East that they would rather the Big East fail than UConn succeed.
Yea nope. I rooted for Nova to win their game. And would root for them in this instance

I campaigned for Seton Hall to be a tournament team.

Just don’t like SJ. Crucify me.

Tennessee/Virginia is painful to watch. How are these two teams 3 and 6 seeds?

So would UConn KU or UConn Duke. I just don’t care enough about revenue to the school to root for a team I hate, it’s not complicated. You disagree, that’s cool, I have no issue I just don’t get how anyone has an issue with our stance of rooting against a hated rival. I hate Pitino.
The same guy who told us all year how awful of a matchup SJ is for us suddenly wants us to have to beat them to get to the final 4. All for the BE. Lol

The revenue is not what I care about but a few bucks is always nice. The perception would be awesome for the league. Two Big East teams battling for a chance at the final 4 and the committee having to put them in the same region to keep them both out of the final 4. It would be great for the league. I also would love playing St. John's on a neutral floor with tournament refs instead of facing Duke with tournament refs.

Which would still not impact the current or future success of UConn basketball.

That’d pay for a bench player
It's not used in isolation. If we have 800k allotted for a player (maybe a subpar starter), suddenly we have 1.3mil (a real player). Or it could be the difference in winning a bidding war for 2.5 mil vs. another team bidding 2 mil for a starting PF.

But either way, we're close but not at the full revenue sharing amount for the university and we have one of the most expensive coaching staffs in the country. Every dollar literally counts.

There's bitterness because St John's has beaten us. I admit I have been bitter against St John's don't lie.

Awful matchup with Big East refs on the road.

Ehhh. Not over a favorable draw or matchup. If they were in another region sure. But they are an active deterrent to us winning a championship at the moment

Sure. That is how rivalries are formed. I don’t root for my rivals. I root against the Red Sox, Celtics, friars, Duke, NFC East outside of Dallas. That isn’t a controversial stance.

St John’s with respect to what they’ve done have now worked their way there for me.

We've beaten both Kansas and St. John's this season. Both games we lost to St. John's were on their home court. Both will be underdogs to Duke, and we still have to get by two historic programs in UCLA and Michigan State.

I'm rooting for the sure bank.

I do understand your perspective on it, though.

That’s logical. I just think Kansas is a better draw if we get there.

The Johnnie’s are just pulling it. Interesting game plan

Since Carolina was eliminated are their fans rooting for Duke to win it all? Guessing no. I understand why it’s in our financial interest to root for other BE teams, it just sucks that we have to.

There's bitterness because they have owned us 4 out of the 5 meetings and taken the BE regular season and tourney the last 2 years.

Everyone here would be rooting for St John's if they lost to us the last 2 years.

It's like people here act like St John's took their girl from them. It's like they try to come up with things to make themselves feel better saying St John's isn't a tournament when they clearly are.

Well if the dislike is that much, get to the Elite 8 and take another shot as the Johnnies but keep banking that money for the Big East

I'm just gonna root for the team that wins this game. Not gonna get emotionally involved, our games are enough stress.
