March General CBB Discussion Thread

He's been removed from campus. Which is standard procedure at every college I know with cases like this.

I'm shocked that the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force did this before the NCAA Tournament. No way they would have done this before the College Football Playoff.

Proving once again that Alabama is not a “basketball school”!

BE final NETs were interesting and telling. SJU, UConn, Nova were the only three in the top 50. SHU hit at 53 and the other seven were 80-103.

Not horrible having the bottom only that low but that is way too many teams clustered after 75 in NET. No complete basement teams this year.

Need to do better OOC next year esp a team like SJU.
As I said 3 months ago, St. John's's atrocious OOC performance would drag down the whole conference.

.-.
They were an anchor on everyone's NET ratings. Seton Hall might have had a chance.
Plenty of opportunity for them and show CBB what you are now - they should take a Kansas in second round, play a Duke tough. That should be their goal. What they can't do is let a 12 seed play them tight or lose, or lose in round of 32.

They made Solo an offer....
He wasn’t leaving but I’ve never seen a coach at a blue blood whiff on so many players. He took Lamar Wilkerson to a derby and he immediately chose Indiana. Must be repelling players or something lol

Yeah, it seems like he weirds them out with his oddball style. I was wrong on him - thought he was going to be good, but clearly something isn't registering and he seems too soft to coach there. If they lose round 1, do wonder if Mitch sends him packing given the heat of the fanbase, especially with Cal showing them up, getting far more exciting players.
We do too
I think he needs it more - we show consistently we can win OOC, roll back players.

Seton Hall wouldn’t have had a chance if St John’s did better OOC. 3 BE teams are in the tournament and Seton Hall was 0-7 against them. 6 of those were Q1 opportunities (home vs Nova was Q2)

Look at Villanova. They lost all their games against the top 2 but went 15-1 against the rest. So even though they got embarrassed in the first round of the BET, they still comfortably made it

Seton Hall was in decent position after January, but then lost to Creighton and DePaul in February and didn’t make a BET run to compensate

Didn’t get snubbed and weren’t a victim of circumstance. They only have themselves to blame

I just saw there’s a guy from High Point, Chase Johnston, who has made 64 threes this season and ZERO two point shots. That is a crazy stat. I guess it won’t be too tough for Wisconsin to game plan against him.

I don't know Tulsa's specific metrics like WAB and the Q1 and Q2 wins, but I would rather they get in vs. some half-ass mediocre power conference team with an under 0.500 conference record that lost in the semifinals or quarterfinals in their conference tournament.
They played 6 games, total, against KenPom teams rated 100 or lower. They went 2-4. Much like Miami of Ohio, you do have to play SOMEBODY and they didn't. But they also lost 6 games, unlike Miami. Miami lost just one game, but if that game had been in December, they'd be sitting at home right now. The ONLY reason they're in is the "undefeated" narrative.

They're lone good win this year was against 11 seed NC St, which given how bad the bubble was, isn't saying much.

Nova did have what was effectively a road win against Wisconsin.

We didn’t look physically overmatched.

We looked sped up by their pressure due to our lack of ball handling. We were plenty big enough.

We did miss Stewie though.
We only looked "physically overmatched" if this is what that is:

Probably right in that it wasn't just SJU. Them doing poorly OOC is more of an issue for perception of the league but honestly if they go 2-2 OOC in their big games and they are probably a 2, or 3 seed. They did drag the conference down though overall. Not enough to get SHU in but when you beat everyone in conference and can't win OOC it drags everyone down.

That said it was pretty much everyone but UConn OOC in the BE. Not horrible but not good enough. PC, Butler and Creighton were all 80-84 pushing them from Quad 1 road games to Quad 2 road games.

Seton Hall had one Quad 1 win and 0-7 against the Big East top 3 teams, nothing to do with St. John’s OOC schedule.

St. John’s has played poorly in the noncon for the past 3 years. The perception part where they break against even mid-tier SEC teams while blazing through our conference still bothers me to no end.

Maybe this is how ACC schools felt when Duke won the conference in football despite losing to us in football.

Oh and now Holloway is charged with 2.1 lbs of cannabis. Maybe he was taking plant biology and thought it was Schedule III now, so studyable.... ? What, no one buying that? :)
