It seems that a number of the UConn targets have lost in their state tourneys.

A podcast preview of the Minnesota state tournament from a Star Tribune writer and another Minnesota basketball writer. The latter, Grant McGinness, compares Paige Bueckers to Wayne Gretzky who McGinness used to cover.

Connecticut's CIAC has now cancelled its remaining girls basketball playoffs. But Greenwich High School's team made the semi-final game in LL behind 5'7" freshman guard Mackenzie Nelson. Her team finished the regular season with six losses. But then knocked off the state's #2-ranked team (Norwich Free Academy), and followed up that game with a win against the #7-ranked team, Trumbull, in which Nelson scored 23 of her team's 41 points.

Nelson was named to the first team all FCIAC team as a freshman. Might even make 1st team All State. It will be interesting to see whether the national rating services take notice....or UConn. Yes, we're not a great basketball state, in no small part because we're a small state.

We'll see.....

Have you noticed whether or not Rebecca's daughter, Siobhan, is playing for Northwest Catholic this year? I haven't seen her listed or mentioned anywhere on this year's roster or news coverage of the team...

Someone seems to be missing.
We can only hope! She is Undeclared, but hasn't posted a UConn consideration. I don't think she is a lock, but the odds could be in our favor.

I'm hoping that at least the Maryland (Saylor), New York (Amari), and Minnesota (Paige) tourneys are allowed to be completed and everyone stays safe.

It didn’t take long for DeBerry to give her future coach a sampling of things to come. She scored five points in the first 2 minutes, 31 seconds – including a no-doubt-about-it 3-pointer. She followed that by blocking a shot, and was later rewarded with an assist when she passed out of a double team to an open player who then scored.

“It’s always nice to have them come out and support,” DeBerry said of Auriemma and the UConn family. “I’m very grateful for everything.”

Maryland decided last night to play the tournament in “closed gyms”. Immediate family, staff, and each school can name 21 people that can attend.
