March 17 Non-UConn games thread

Georgia leading Mercer in a back-and-forth game, 30-28...4:51 left in the 2nd quarter.

USF 31 Buffalo 25 5:19 2Q. Stoppage: USF Henshaw down following a head butt during a scramble for the ball.

Halftime: Georgia leads Mercer 34-31.

BOOOOOO on ESPN for their so-called "whip around" coverage on ESPN2. All I've seen has been Ohio State/GW...the halftime show...a bunch of commercials and NO look-ins to Georgia/Mercer or the USF/Buffalo game.

For all the Tenn Holly Haters, take a long hard look at the CMU/LSU games as Farkis is showing you exactly who she is as a coach, mediocre at best. Holly is better, now I am not saying she’s good by any stretch, but the issue is there is no one from the Summitt Tree that can run the LV program with one possible exception-Micki DeMoss, who. Is probably too long in the tooth and has her own personal baggage that would probably prevent her from being a head coach again (and is also an assistant on this same underachieving LSU team) but is a quality basketball mind.
The school should/will have to look outside of the program to truly find a quality coach to exceed what even the pedestrian Holly has done.
Fargas at LSU has nowhere near the talent that Holly does at Tennessee. Not really a fair comparison IMO.

.-.
When I watched the Buffalo-Central Michigan game in the MAC final, I really thought that these teams both looked better than 11 seeds. I'm not the least surprised that CMU beat LSU and now Buffalo is leading USF.

ESPN2 finally switched the game...to Miami/Quinnipiac.

Ohio State as a host, what a joke, and USF as a 6 seed, nonsense!
I hate to contradict your hated for OSU but putting your faith behind USF is absolutely misguided. Despite tOSU game at home, who and what has USF done to warrant hosting? I am no fan of McGuff but his teams resume is better than USF. The next big game that Jose wins in the NCAA will be his first. As I type, Buffalo is winning 51-40 in Tallahassee. Once again, USF is disappointing in the NCAA. I guess the Euro's can't handle the pressure...

.-.
Georgia starting to pull away from Mercer...41-32, and going to the line following a Mercer timeout.

Wowsa!!! That was a dagger by Quinnipiac...two offensive rebounds...then the and-1.

.-.
Ha...Kelsey Mitchell was scoreless until nailing a THREE at the 1st quarter buzzer...Ohio State leading GW, 17-12.

Usually she gets criticized on this board for scoring too much.

So, when a player is passing the ball it's a shooting foul?

USF performance disappointing. But Quinnipiac - Miami riveting so far. Quinnipiac keeps making impossible shots.

Fargas at LSU has nowhere near the talent that Holly does at Tennessee. Not really a fair comparison IMO.
Well, that’s sort of the issue with the money LSU overpaid to get Farris from UCLA and she’s been sort of pathetic at a traditional WCBB power. She hasn’t recruited well so do we think she will be able to at Tenn? Maybe but maybe not.

OMG! Mercer was fouled on a three-point shot at the 3rd quarter buzzer. Officials looking at it...but looks like player got the shot off on time. Currently 52-45 game.

All three FT good...Georgia clinging to a 52-48 lead over Mercer, going to the 4th quarter.

.-.
Offensive foul, knee to the gut. That was kinda brutal.

That's why I really don't care if USF is in our bracket. They've never shown much in the tournament.

Exactly. There was so much whining about this. Much ado about nothing.

Same player from Quinnipiac took a knee to the nose earlier in the game. Not sure if it's coincidental or if Miami is kind of a dirty team.

Hah, the commentator called the charge where she took a knee to the stomach a "gutsy play."
