Let's see how that changes post-commit. Or has it already? I don't recall him being as low as 40.
The chart on their site confirms a big bump. Do we have pro-UConn folks there or are they just that bad and they are playing catch up? I will give them credit for having a chart though. Way more transparent than the other sites. I fully expect MAL to plummet on ESPN (Orange Sportsnet), for example. He was like 60 on 247 yesterday or two days ago

He's consistently been in the 37-40 range on Rivals for months now. You never learn your lesson with this stuff.ESPN 33

If Hamidou commits and we get no other guards/wings in 2017, our depth chart probably looks like this for the 2017/18 season:
PG: Jalen (Jr), Alterique (S0), MAL (Fr)
SG: Hamidou (Fr), Vital (So)
SF: Larrier (Jr), Jackson (So)
PF: Durham (So), Diarra (So)
C: Enoch (C)
No, actually, you never learn yours. Let me say it again, the gap between how smart you THINK you are and how smart you ACTUALLY are is a god damn CANYON!He's consistently been in the 37-40 range on Rivals for months now. You never learn your lesson with this stuff.
Sure, you definitely weren't trying to imply that Rivals dropped MAL's ranking because he committed to us. Seriously though, how many times are people going to have to point out you're wrong before you end this UConn recruiting rankings manipulation conspiracy theory of yours? No, actually, you never learn yours. Let me say it again, the gap between how smart you THINK you are and how smart you ACTUALLY are is a god damn CANYON!
I said, "I don't recall". What don't you understand about the english language? What about that confuses you? Or do you think everyone else is like you and doesn't have a life? I don't track these sites daily. I don't assume anyone else does either except, maybe, you. So if someone says, "I don't recall", I would assume they missed it due to the constant changes. Maybe the last time I looked, he was 37 or some other 30-something. Get it? Look, son, being an obtuse will not end well for you. Change now before it is too late.
Jim Calhoun isn't walking through that door. That lineup is way too big, with way not enough ballhandling.
With KO's (correct) preference for smaller, modern, guard-oriented lineups, it'll be a lot closer to:
PG: Gilbert (S0), Vital (So)
SG: Adams (Jr), MAL (Fr)
SF: Diallo (Fr), Jackson (So)
PF: Larrier (Jr), Diarra (So)
C: Enoch (C), Durham (So)
Probably more accurately, the 1 and 2 positions would be interchangeable, with Adams and Gilbert starting and playing 30 mpg, MAL the first off the bench at 15-20 mpg, and Vital getting the remainder.
Diallo and Larrier would start at the 3 and 4. Jackson the primary backup at the 3/4 when we go perimeter-oriented, and Diarra for those (hopefully) rare minutes where we play 2 bigs together.
Enoch starts at the 5, with Durham the primary backup, though if Durham and Diarra are in together, it's probably Durham spending more time at the perimeter on offense.
Ideally we'll add a stud big to complement the 4/5 rotation, in addition to Diallo, and maybe a bench SF as well.
At no point in his HS career has Vital been a real PG, nor has he ever projected to actually be one. He's a combo guard at best, but really an undersized SG.Jim Calhoun isn't walking through that door. That lineup is way too big, with way not enough ballhandling.

who wouldn't want to play with the trio of adams, gilbert , and Mal. those guys running the floor... wow. Honestly don't think there is a better pg rotation next year, forget when mal comes to town. My one hope for hami to come to school is to learn nuances of professional level defense and offense; things like cutting off ball but mainly pnr play. Ollie is a master at developing defensive iq, he never bails out his players and forces them grasp schemes...a very pro like approach to coaching. Hamidou could definitely use that, but i'll go on the record if he declares after his PG year he will no doubt be a first rounder.Ham is a 3 at the college level, IMO.

For sure. But on a roster with Adams, Gilbert & MAL, Vital is almost certainly #4 on the PG depth chart.I don't think he'd ever play full-time at the point, but for a nominal backup, you could certainly do worse.
I think Jalen is a strong candidate to leave after this season, and who knows, maybe Vital kills it off the bench this year. For sure. But on a roster with Adams, Gilbert & MAL, Vital is almost certainly #4 on the PG depth chart.
who knows maybe rique averages 40 a game this year. Ya never knoeI think Jalen is a strong candidate to leave after this season, and who knows, maybe Vital kills it off the bench this year.

Let's all just stop worrying about them. Not saying I agree with them or anything but this type of stuff happens on every board, including this one. Can't really be hypocritical like that when their fan base is talking themselves up, we do that all the time here. Why waste any time with the delusional old women (figuratively, not literally) on PC's board?
lol omgBetter then any uconn guard in a decade plus.

So... does this at all make up for the Justin Jackson miss?
No I meant being wrong about my Jackson "prediction."Different positions, different classes. They're not really related imho
True story: I go to school in Boston and this past Wednesday I was wearing a UConn sweatshirt in a restaurant by campus and the lady working there noticed what I was wearing and said her son visited UConn "this past weekend" with the family and she said him and the whole family loved it. She said he is highest on UConn and BC right now but that Kevin Ollie made a great impression on the family and that he is "an amazing coach". We chatted a little bit and I assumed he was just someone we were showing interest in (judging by him being high on BC as well which is uncommon for guys we target) but when I was leaving I asked for his name and she said Makai.
Now that Im reading this thread its become clear to me MAL is the son she was referring to and that they were at UConn for First Night this past weekend. She seemed really impressed by the program and made it seem like her son was chasing UConn, not the other way around due to the way she phrased the following: "I keep telling him, work hard, work hard and they will want you and you can get a full scholarship and a free education".
She also mentioned that her family is very close to Shabazz's and that they have known each other for a long time being close to Roxbury and such. This bodes well for us as the neighborhoods in Boston like Dorchester and Roxbury are big on UConn and multiple people have stopped me while wearing UConn gear to say something like "Bazz!" out of the blue.
Take this for what its worth but I think if Ollie stays on this kid he will be a Husky.
