Oz doesn't know unless it's right under Ollie's nose.

Clearly players and recruits think differently and don't express what they're thinking.

Whatever conclusion one draws about this situation, this should be a main takeaway.

There is playing time to be WON all over this roster and kids are leaving because of playing time?

A reminder we once had a roster that included Emeka Okafor, Charlie Villaneuva, Josh Boone, and Hilton Armstrong.

We are not bringing the right type of kids into this program right now. Not even close.
we can get talented players but we need the players with the right mindset

Don't hold your breath re: the tourney. I'm a relatively optimistic fan but us going dancing next year....yeesh I don't see it unless the staff pulls off some miracles in the next two months. We have no front court, only one wing and need guard depth. There will be a lot of new faces in the fold too, chemistry will be a problem.
And then at the end of next season we have this same "play time" transfer circus again after investing a brutal season to player development again. Turnover like this starts and ends with the coaching staff, player retention is their job. Now pushing a kid out for being below the level needed is a different issue, but that's clearly not what's happening here.

I doubt he leaves UConn for PC even though we were in his final three. One of the big boys must have been whispering in his ear....
Louisville.

agreed as of now... as sad and as hard it is to say it might be a rebuilding year but if we bring in more players and everyone else stays we'll surprise a lot of people... im not worried about the tourney at this point

It's very easy to understand, people. Players are willing to sacrifice playing in a top flight conference to come to UConn IF they think they will be a guaranteed starter or featured in big minutes. If they commit and don't see that materializing, they'll leave. If a player is going to come off the bench, they'd probably rather it be for a power 5 school, and I don't blame them. I do think the AAU mindset/not wanting to work for the playing time contributes to it for a lot of these kids, but sometimes it is that simple. The AAC conference chickens are coming home to roost.

And people here think that being in the AAC is fine and dandy.

This is what scares me. I dont get it. We need players. You cant be the only good guard on a good team. This all goes back to Ollie promising Makai playing time to get him to commit. This is why you should never do that. I hope hes learning..

But MAL is leaving before even making it here so KO promising playing time didn't really mean anything anyway, I don't get your point.

My thing is we needed another guard or at least a 6'4" type who could play the 2 and 3, and that was with MAL. So if we get someone does that make CV feel threatened and consider weighing his options like Borges mentioned? WTF, we can't have 2 or 3 guards on a roster and have guys be assured of 30 minutes of playing time, we need a full roster.
It's maddening, I don't understand why we have such a problem with players being scared by competition and having to fight for minutes.

What?

Class isn't wrapped up yet is an understatement, we need 3 more players.

I disagree about three more players but another talented player or two would be nice. I don't want to hamstring next years class with lower ranked players to fill positions.

But makai can look at the roster and see jalen, rique, CV, and we are recruiting blake harris. He wants to be the main ball handler getting 25- 30 min a game next yr. Hw was going to get 10-15 here..maybe. He's a smary kid and saw the writing on the wall

If we miss the tourney next year, 100% yes. But of course you're right when you say UConn can't do any better, right?

You know what? If that happens, I'd be more than amenable to a change. But if we're missing the tourney in 3 out of 4 years, I'm quite confident that nobody worth their salt will even want to enter into a situation that dire.

If we don't compete for an AAC title and make a deep tournament run in the next month it's time to clean house.
with what players? that's like saying with after '15 saying the same thing when we lost everyone

Say goodbye to that Rivals Nation pipeline. Was really looking forward to Reeves and possibly Duke, but that is just a fond memory at this point.
