Luke Murray and BC?

Here are the attendance figures for non-UConn games. Keep in mind, Pitino made a comment about the PC game being "50% PC fans" too.

Where did you find that? I was just going off of AI saying they sold out some Garden home games this season and averaged 17,000 fans at their MSG home games last season.

How long this is dragging on makes me think it's less likely than it felt a day or two ago
I wouldn’t think this gets announced until our last game even if he took it. Have there been rumors of anyone else interviewing? Luke doesn’t need to take this job. Look at how long Lloyd was an assistant at Gonzaga and he ended up at a premier program. I doubt Luke would wait that long but there may be better opportunities sooner than later

Entertainment expenses are non-deductible.
Paying someone to endorse your company and use their name to advertise it is deductible. The beauty of "NIL".

The poster asking all to stop using BCU didn't seem to know the Swofford story, which has been explained more than once on this thread, and throughout BY history

But is also 22 years old.

I just feel like stuff like this leaks even if you don't want it to. I'm thinking he stays

According to the alumni, the incoming President Butler sees things differently.
According to some alums I know, Butler was in NYC and they weren't encouraged by Butler's thoughts on financially supporting athletics. Maybe he will be more supportive. Heck, Father Leahy didn't even show up for Jerry York's retirement press conference.

I do note see the word University anywhere when Boston College is mentioned

If you do note it, what’s the problem?

Ask Bill Curley how much of a rival they were to UConn. Then ask him if he actually should’ve listened to his dad rather than JC?😂
Curley would’ve had two rings if he came to UConn. The Sunday before he announced, Bob Ryan in the Boston Globe said that if he didn’t go to BC, BC should give up basketball. He got the second part right.

Take with a grain of salt. MSG event attendance numbers are reported as tickets sold/distributed, not actual bodies through the gate. You would blush at the number of tickets distributed to Chase, MSG’s largest corp partner. Their tix utilization rate in embarrassingly low for every Garden event outside Knicks/Rangers.

Pros:
Good conference - Can recruit to play at Duke, at UNC, etc. Can earn credibility quicker than at a midmajor.
Opportunity - Nowhere to go but up. Very easy to get better results.

Cons:
Recruiting - Going to be tough to get players with UConn, PC, St Johns, Seton Hall closeby.
Fan Base - The athletic department is flat lined there for student support. They literally can't give away free tickets.
Good conference - They're going to get their tails kicked for a while. They were 16th in the ACC this season.

I would like to think he deserves a better gig and he's been patiently waiting for his shot. As a homer, I think he's better off staying here at least another year but I wouldn't fault him if he took it.
Seton Hall. lol

When St. John’s is good they get the casuals involved and garden is busy. Most aren’t St. John’s die hard but folks that get on the train and like going to events there.

It’s not a hassle like going to UConn games if y live in the city. Y either walk or jump on the subway. Go to the game for a bit then go out partying.

At least it was like that when I worked there

This. It’s a city of 8.5M with a ton of corporate ticket buyers. The biggest games will be hot tickets but people shouldn’t confuse that with having a big loyal fan base.
Kind of crazy this billboard is currently up in Waterbury...

A couple comments:

If we can't withstand the loss of a quality assistant, we aren't the program we thought we were. One demonstrable truth is that having a successful coaching tree is normally very beneficial to the coach and program that produced that three.

Nobody that is part of the program is here under indentured servitude. If we have success and quality assistants who contributed to our success we have to accept that at some point they may move on.

With this case specifically, if what some posted on NIL (that Luke believes they need $8mm while BC offered $5mm) is true, that is a substantial gap and if it cannot be closed, it will make the possibility of succeeding even more difficult, and may lead Luke to decide to wait for a different opportunity.

However this unfolds, I will always be grateful and appreciative of what Luke did here and I will always him the best.
We survived losing Howie!

We made it past Raphael Chillious (sp?).

Luke will fly. Maybe he'll succeed.

Congrats to Luke.

Hopefully BC will come close enough with NIL (and whatever other investments are needed for men's basketball) where he'll have a fair shot at being successful.

He's a dozen years younger than Dan, and Dan has stated that he doesn't plan on coaching at an older age, so this could turn into a minor league assignment for Luke, preparing him to take over in the Big leagues when Dan call it quits.
