Luke Murray and BC?

The BC rumor mill has some people saying BC has 5 mil in NIL and Murray has asked for 8. I would consider those to be pretty heavy rumors, though.
lol at the thought of BC coming up with $8M in NIL for basketball.

Even if it’s 5 Luke can be a problem for us in the New England recruiting trail

We're not recruiting anywhere near the same type of player as BC right now. I think it's an awful job, but if he can make an NCAA tournament, it'll be a great success. He was a finalist the last time Charleston opened. That is definitely the better job.

It depends on what he wants. BC will pay a lot more but it will be way harder to win at and move up from. Charleston job is better in that he should have no trouble winning immediately and moving up in a couple of years.

Charleston sounds better to me.

Lol no
There’s nothing stopping Luke from identifying the next Karaban from mass as a highschool frosh and throwing most of their budget at him. It’s a NE school witha great coach and recruiter to compete with that we didn’t have to before.

I love Luke, but if UConn offers and BC offers, there is no way a top recruit will choose BC

Not yet anyways, it's going to take a few years for Luke to get there

If PC has as good a chance as anyone then so does BC with Murray as HC

And @businesslawyer is sleeping with Sydney Sweeney. 🤣

O.K. I guess you never know. Well the part about Luke getting a top recruit over UConn, not @businesslawyer sleeping with Sydney Sweeney. That's never happening. Seriously though, BC was a very good program at one point taking recruits from UConn. But that was a long time ago and Hurley will be retired before BC is ever on par with UConn.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! This is terrible. The only school I hate more than Duke is BC for blackballing us. and he’s taking Bill with him to boot. How could he not get a better job why couldnt PC or Butler hire him!!
First off, I would wish Luke the very best, however the timing of this stinks. There should not be any talk/tampering of players or coaches until that team is eliminated from the tourney. Such an unnecessary and preventable distraction and not fair to the players, schools or their fans.

That's a pretty significant shortfall of his target. They're a little less than 40% shy of the NIL he's looking for.

The way out of the gutter for BC is not throwing the majority of their resources at a single player. We’re not even going to be recruiting the same players, much less losing out to BC.

And the NIL/rev share target is moving.

Ok the next Clingan. It can’t be categorically dismissed as a possibility.

Why is it so obvious that Charleston would be a better job than BC? BC hasn’t been good, and I get the downsides, but at least a team from a legitimate conference has a chance to compete in terms of NIL. If he turns BC around, there are paths to making the NCAA tournament without having to win the conference tournament every year.

Both are stepping stone jobs but it’s a heck of a lot easier to win and win quickly at CofC. IMO there’s no more upside to BC. If he wins at CofC, he’ll be just as highly thought of as if he does it at BC. The competition, resources compared to your competition, and history of success are WAY preferable at CofC.

It's a low bar, can only go up. Would have to get creative. I'm not sure what better we think an assistant can get - still is P4 in an ACC that has easy wins to get with some decent coaching/players. Worst part is we lose Bill at all the games.
Can he get enough nil to compete. That is at least half the battle these days. Just look at the tournament again
The only Cinderellas come from p4 conferences. No nop equals no chance. How would Danny do if he had the worse NIL on the conference?

Twenty years ago, BC was a job that you could win some years. I'm not sure that is the case now. In 2015, BC was the only school that voted against increasing the student athlete stipend in a 79-1 vote and they have been late to fully fund revenue sharing. And, their NIL infrastructure is lacking and it doesn't seem they are 100% in. Fan support has collapsed.

If I were Murray, I would go to a mid major school that has a winning culture. You win for a couple of years, gain some expereince as a head coach, and you can move to better job than BC.
BC is a mid major…

Shouldn’t be a problem.
@Ricker isn’t part of the deal. He stays with us.

I have to think taking that job was in part a commitment to NIL - no one is dumb enough to go to a P4 school that has no NIL - that would be a death wish. I have confidence that he was given confidence on that end. I'm sure him joining will jumpstart some interest, along with Bill Murray being in the stands. I wonder if Bill swings by for any Uconn games after Luke is gone.

They hated it all season when they thought Hogson was a done deal and then when Hogson said no it flipped to they never offered Hogson and GMac was their guy all along.
Once he kept it close vs Duke the Cuse search was over

Hodgson would be more of an issue at PC than anyone at BC. Boston College is a knife in a gunfight.

Boston College is a coach killer. Last three guys at CoC moved up. (Ironically, Grant moves to BC.) Last four guys at Boston College fell into the abyss. Bad admin, bad investment, no fans.
