Luke Murray and BC?

Which begs the question, why does a school like BC continue down this road of major college athletics? Does it truly need that forum to preserve and grow its academic standing?
A number of private schools are asking that question. But for now, paying players hasn't driven any major or even mid-major program out.

Luke has paid his dues as an assistant coach. Added tremendous value at different stops. If the rumors are true-I see the BC move as an intermediate stop (a resume builder) for a major HC job in 5-10 years. Is it possible that he knows he has to leave-succeed and build a program- so that he could be a candidate at a major HC job? As an example- Succeed Dan when he decides to hang up the sneakers at UConn?

Apparently per some posters/prognosticators- Luke wanted to be in a NBA market location for his HC opportunity. Maybe his end game is the pros instead of college. Boston isn't a bad place to get exposure under the watchful eye of Brad Stevens.

ACC school in Boston. Chance to turn that school around. I wouldn’t blame him a bit if he wanted to take that job.

Listen, I love the guy and I feel like he's way more responsible for our 2 titles than he probably gets credit for or that we actually know about.

That said? Not every offensive or defensive coordinator in the NFL is a good head coach. I say NFL because they don't really have those designated positions in NCAA hoops, but in essence, he's like our OC. We know he can recruit. We know he's an X and O wunderkind. We don't really know anything else at all about him....and he's stepping into a blazing dumpster if he goes to BC. It would be a great story if he can reclimate them.....but the chance of him failing there is even bigger considering the situation and the unknowns about the rest of him.

“For them to get the type of jobs that make financial sense for them, they need to be at a high level of college basketball,” Hurley said. “When you look at what Tommy Lloyd has done at Arizona, he had been at Gonzaga, understanding what it takes, those are the type of jobs those guys should be in the mix for."

The BC head coaching job isn't in the same universe as Arizona's.

It's a risk for sure but if he fails he will have his pick of any top college teams staff, of course coming back here would be a possibility. Could even join an NBA team then try again in 2-5 years.

I don't want to lose him, as I think he's Hurley's successor. That said, I think he could go to BC and if they invest properly in the program, win there. That would still position him to return to UConn when Hurley is done. I know we all see BC as a bad job, but it's an excellent school in a good league and there's no reason the right coach can't win there with the new AD and President supporting athletics.
Also think the alumni base is very rich, and would support a great Catholic coach.

Oy.

He was always a smart player. His physical abilities are the least of his attributes - he is absolutely nothing special as an athlete. His mind is why he was able to progress from a low-major prospect playing at Loyola, to Rutgers, to UConn, to the NBA.
Why do people always think athleticism is 40 yard dash, vert, and not hand-eye coordination?

I hear you, but I’m not sure that the cost/benefit analysis of buying Xanax in case Sydney Sweeney wants to sleep with me makes it a good investment.
You never know. It's better to be prepared.

I imagine he is smart enough to know what a competitive guarantee NIL package would be. I don’t think he would agree unless he thinks he has a chance to be competitive in the Acc.

I hope that the interest spreads to football and eventually basketball. It would be great for New England.
Define great? The battle for New England recruits, fans, and interest is a zero sum game.

Not sure how to "buy" xanax but it's always a good investment.

He is a good coach, he will make them relevant quickly

They hated it all season when they thought Hogson was a done deal and then when Hogson said no it flipped to they never offered Hogson and GMac was their guy all along.

The BC rumor mill has some people saying BC has 5 mil in NIL and Murray has asked for 8. I would consider those to be pretty heavy rumors, though.
