Luke Murray’s Replacement

Apparently, that’s not even in the realm of possibility.

The posting expires - doesn’t mean anything.
Interesting, why wouldn’t English me in the realm of possibility? I was half joking but just curious why you say that.

I’m sure Hurley already has his guy figured out

he would be redundant. we need to aim higher.
I say this respectfully, but who is "higher" than a former head coach, lottery pick, multiple national champion and one of the greatest PG's in college basketball history, who also happens to be a former assistant to Danny (with great success)? I dunno. 🤷‍♂️

I realize we're likely to go in a different direction, but Bobby Hurley would be a slam dunk (if he even wants the job). It's an obvious cultural fit and he'd do wonders working with our guards. In the NIL era, I'm not sure Dan needs more recruiting connections, he needs a brain trust that can teach his offensive system and develop talent. I haven't heard a name yet that has more coaching experience than Bobby - plus, the sideline would absolutely be must see tv!

I know Hurley likes him, but apparently there’s no chance that he would be coming here.

Why that is…I don’t know.

The staff has known who they are hiring since before the job was posted. The posted qualifications are tailored to who they have chosen. They can't legally announce a choice until the posting period is ended. They'll usually will wait a couple of days for appearance sake, then make the announcement. This is SOP for all public sector jobs.

Dan was very complimentary of Furman style of play…..or is that too low of a level?

Mid-Major making a splash makes me think of High Point. Anybody of interest on their staff?

Is he into Analytics and not zzzz. Hire him
I couldn't tell you anything about him other than his HPU bio. But he seems to fit the bill as young and an up and comer that has risen out of the HS ranks and has NYC/NJ ties.

His kid fetches coffee and tells his dad when to challenge a call. He isn’t responsible for creating offensive sets and scouting opposite teams. But you do make a good point: Hires should be based on merit, not last name—and that rule should be increasingly more strongly enforced the higher up the totem pole you go. It’s not that I doubt Taliek or Scott know how to coach, it’s that I have zero basis for believing they’re in the tippy-top tier of assistants. The days of hiring guys based on what they did for us on the court is thankfully OVER.

Andrew is also Dan's emotional support animal. Keeps him calm (er).

IF indeed NY-native, err George Mason '15 alum Edwards is the man, his High Point bio also mentions prior experience with Creighton (grad asst with McDermott and new Bluejays head coach Alan Huss), Drake, The Patrick School (NJ), Montverde (FL hoop prep where Liam McNeeley played), Christ the King (Queens), New Heights (Brooklyn), etc.

I guess the guy they wanted didn't apply yet?
My latest guess is that maybe their first choice backed out. Maybe a money issue? Maybe someone used us to get more where we they are? This seems to be breaking the normal pattern.

I think this board would have a collective meltdown if we tried to implement some of his ideas here. Half the board barely accepts 3 point shooting

I think Golden has a very unlikeable vibe but I give him a lot of credit for some of the data-based stuff he's not afraid to take a swing on.

It was only extended a few days though. Probably just a formality in finalizing a deal. But I don’t know
