Hey Everyone, long time lurker, first time poster, haven’t seen this discussed much, but any rumblings about who’s on the short list to replace Luke Murray? Figure that role should be filled sooner rather than later with Portal Kombat in full swing.

Preston Murphy and Dave Cox come to mind as great candidates. Anyone else?

Hard pass on Tom Moore moving over.

Definately don’t think McDermott is an option.

My guess is Dan taps back into his pipeline. Cox and Murphy are both tried and true to Dan Hurley.

No, we don't need retread Tom Moore. He's excelling in his role and we need a younger, inventive mind on the bench.

And, please, save yourselves the trouble and don't just throw out names of former players who seemed a little cerebral. We can aim higher.

I personally believe that Moore is far better suited for the GM role than anyone we could find. I also believe that we could find many who could be every bit as good as an assistant.

I wouldn't worry too much about the size of whoever (I believe Kimani) is coaching our bigs. Look at the improvement Sanogo, Clingan and Reed each demonstrated from when they arrived through when they left.

Yes, there is some truth to the "Nardi is replacing Murray, the new coach will replace Nardi" comments. The one caveat is Dan Hurley stating the new coach needs to be an analytics guy. This is a portion of what were Luke's job duties that will move to the new hire, not Nardi.

Yes, the staff will be different next season and Luke will be missed. This doesn't mean the staff cannot be equally good, but in a slightly different manner.

Murray was reported as the guy who brought UConn’s offense to Hurley from seeing offenses around the world plus his own original thinking. Described as a hoops genius by many. We need another smartest guy in the room.

Doubtful. Murray has big shoes to fill. He was one of the highest paid assistants in the country. Nardi is not that guy…YET.
Never said he was as good as Luke, just saying he's Luke's replacement. Every coach has to be the best version of themselves.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Mamadou Diarra moves up from Director of Player Development into the coaching staff.

Are there any European coaches that have come over as assistants for the college game? Pipeline to players and offensive system?

How about a big man coach that is a big man?
Who was responsible for coaching up our big men over the past 5 years? If it’s not Luke, I wouldn’t look to change it. They’ve been slaying. If it was Luke….

Ive always wondered what that role entails. Assume it’s not nearly enough money to do it forever.

He's a great program/culture guy, but I think we're looking for more, especially to replace the X's and O's acumen of a guy like Murray.

Murray was an analytics guy. We need someone with that background, not just an alum or even a guy known for recruiting. Need someone that can go into a lab and draw up some new play he saw in an eastern european YMCA.
