Low/Mid-Major Conference Tourneys

I like when conference champs (or higher seeds) are rewarded in mid- and low-major conferences. It rewards the regular season, it gives less of a chance that there will be a bad bid-stealer, and results in the best chance to have the best team make the tournament.

Every bubble team should root for chalk in mediocre/bad conferences that have an at-large lock program. You can argue that Gonzaga has gotten a higher seed than they deserve in the past, but it's hard to argue they weren't a deserving team to make the tournament. So, if they had lost early, it just would've taken a bid away from a bubble team.

I disagree, a one round bye is OK. If you are going to do this, then just give the bid to the regular season winner. This tournament is joke.

So if that's the philosophy you want to go with (and by the way, I tend to agree), then:

-Award the NCAAT bid to the regular-season champion based on whole-season record
-Run the end-of-season tournament for bragging rights and a trophy for the conference members
-Don't give the best teams a cakewalk path in the conference tourney where they only have to win 1 game to make it to the finals.
 
Wouldn't it be ironic if the WCC teams that had to play a game or two to get to the semi-final round knocked out the two teams that were sitting around for a week falling out of game shape?

At least CCSU has made three NCAA appearances this century. Quinnipiac is still waiting for their first and they have disappointed again despite starting the year as the preseason #1 on the MAAC coaches poll.

IMO, behind Hurley and Jones, Sellers is the 3rd best D1 men’s basketball coach in CT.

Didn't it happen in the old Big East when they had the double bye for the top seeds? The coaches hated it.
 
Not quite as good as they used to be due to the portal, but these one bid leagues and their tourneys mean so much to them. Good fun to begin the madness. If Akron beats Miami do they still take Miami D'Oh? Think they have to and not add a pitiful Auburn team who are 15-14 and 7-11 in the league, even though an Auburn or alike is better. They just aren’t deserving of earning a birth.

Miami is in if their only loss is in conference tourney.
 
Even with one loss, Miami (OH) should get in ... yes, mostly, because it's a great story

... I mean, the average person can't show up to a conference call online 30x in a row ... Miami should be rewarded for their excellence to date, in my opinion

Last year’s MVC champ (Drake) moves on to play this year’s favorite Belmont

The #1 CUSA seed is already gone. Liberty goes down to #6 Louisiana Tech

I think it’s still the regular season in the CUSA, believe their tourney starts next week
