Just wow. Amazing ascent. Love this kid. Loved him when he handed us our asses and thought he had pro potential, but not those garish numbers.

Kid's clearly been training hard and it's paying off. His story is really just another example of how important on-court leadership is (Kemba). Just gotta cut down those turnovers a little!

You forgot the 7 turnovers. That's 52 in his last 8 games. He is high risk high reward. Shabazz has 73 in 26 games and people complain.

Why not?

I'm not sure, part of it is the way the media drools over him (not fair, but still) and part of it is his reaction after he makes a shot. Not really feelin the whole head nod thing. You probably are saying, "Wow, that's a tty reason not to like him". That's probably true, but I am not always a rational person. The human dynamic is an interesting one. Subltle gestures and reactions can often times rub people the wrong way, and unconsciously, my brain has decided not to like him.

I thought he'd fade after a few games but I think it's pretty clear now that what he's doing isn't a fluke. I was surprised during the game when ABC showed a stat that since Feb. 4, he's scored more total points than any other player in the league including Lebron and Durant. Not a bad two week run.

I agree. His cockiness anoys me. Also I think the fact that he gets all the "Jordan calls" after only a few games is annoying. Also the media (other than Walt Frazier on MSG) never points out anything negative he does (It's like watching a Duke game) . I had to laugh when Hubie Brown said "New York loves the underdogs". Isn't this the city that booed the Giants for drafting Phil Simms and the fans of thier teams are always talking about signing the biggest superstars out there.

If you people think he is cocky and that he has been getting "Jordan calls" you haven't been watching. The kid is remarkably, refreshingly humble--even more so when you consider the standards set by today's professional athlete--and he has been getting hammered more and more every game, with the Laker game being the worst I've seen yet. Today's flagrant foul call was the first "break" I've seen him get, and that wasn't terrible. More times than not he's getting no-calls when he's getting mugged.

The Lin Haters are just that: Haters.

If you don't like this story then there's something wrong with you.

He is having a Kemba season so far this year. His head nodding and cockiness is nothing like Kemba's demonstrative reactions. The kid is nodding his head after a good play. Wow.............................and to think how much we enjoyed the three point gestures and the flexing of our own star last year. If he continues then he can shake his head any way he wants. Its really a minor reaction and not cocky.

I really haven't seen an absurd calls go his way. I mean he had the ball stolen/slapped away a few times today where if the refs wanted to make a call they could have (they correctly didn't). Every foul seems to be well earned on an aggressive attack towards the basket.

I can understand not liking the head nodding and tongue wagging though. Not a huge fan of when Kemba did his thing either. At the same time, I blame neither for it. They both earned it by just being that good. If they start doing stuff like that at a silly time (up/down 20 with 10 seconds to go) that's one thing, but in a close game where you just made a huge play. It's fine.

That's why I said they must not be watching. If you only see the highlights, of course you're going to see the huge plays, and the guy has had a ton of them in a short time. The vast majority of the time he just runs back down court, but on a few occasions when it would be any human's natural reaction, he shows some genuine emotion. Just by way of example, J.R. Smith scored his first basket ever as a Knick and he flys down the court like a jet plane. Lin is not that type of guy. He is having fun and doing well, after an amazingly hard road to get there. I have never seen a story like this in the NBA. If anyone else has, I'd love to hear it.

I agree. Like I said his timing isn't like he is doing it all the time. He does it when some huge play has just happened. I like his demeanor most of the time. He is always giving other guys props for good plays and stuff like that.

To be fair to Lin, he sounds like a very humble kid off the court, so I suppose I can live with it. Kemba is the same way, so I'd say most of my dislike is probably based on the fact that I can't turn on any channel without hearing about him.

I will say this--the kid is a good player. Can't believe so many missed on him.

Yeah, god forbid he should do a little head nodding, what with being the leading scorer in the entire NBA over the last 2 weeks. What a dick.

OMG he nodded his head, haters gonna hate, its ok for Paul Pierce to do his airplane move or KG to do his antics but Lin nodding his head is excessive.

Jeremy Lin set the Knicks record for turnovers in a half with 8 the other night. He also is the first NBA player to have six or more turnovers in six straight games. He is rewriting the record books.

Most of his turnovers are from over penetrating and getting picked off or stripped, but don't forget he is getting many easy baskets for his team mates by doing that. so high risk high reward, I would not want him to change because he will lose assists and effectiveness. i actually think he could pull the trigger from outside more often.

With all due respect, if you're more influenced by his nodding his head after making a shot than him sticking with hoops even though no one believed in his abilities despite his accomplishments, his picking up a Harvard degree on the way and what he actually says when he's asked questions, as opposed to you intepreting subtle body lanuage, I would look in the mirror and think about whether your conclusions say more about you or more about him.

It truly is amazing what people find to not like in our society. It is one thing to think that the media is too quick to name him as a great basketball player (of course they are -- many can have a great month or two in the NBA and leave no long term impact whatsoever) but this young man has done nothing to give anyone reason not to like him.

At the coach's instructions, he has the ball in his hands for a huge percentage of the time. Long term, he will need to turn it over less. But to think you can criticize the two weeks he's had by pointing to one negative statistic is silly. How about asking yourself if the Knicks are a better or worse team than they were before he started controlling the ball, turnovers and all.
