Liberty Post Game Thread

We just went bowl-eligible for the first time since 2015 and half this postgame thread is about the TV announcer. What could be more Boneyard?

As for the game, it was a classic. One we'll remember for years. Best game, best win for UConn since beating an undefeated Houston team seven years ago. So happy for the players, the program and the fans who stuck around through all the dark times and were rewarded with what should be an unexpected but rewarding bowl season for UConn.

Had season tix since The Rent opened… until Edsall 2.0 made it feel like going to a funeral. UMass game was the first time being back at the Rent since 2018. My son was 3. Today… man was it special to be there, have something to play for, to care. What a win!!!

Absolutely amazing. After watching Liberty go up in the third quarter, I thought UConn was toast. I didn't think the offense had it in them to come back.

Their resilience all year has been stunning. Mora has talked all year about the character of the team....and it wasn't just words.

Congratulations to the players and coaches... especially the seniors.

What a game!!!

This 1000%.

They had no business winning this game and just made so many big plays when it counted.

What is the news? Opposing coach looked sad after loss. I thought he looked like a class act at the end of the game with Coach Mora and wish him and the Liberty Flames the best go forward. We don’t have to rub it in.

Agreed. When Mora and Freeze went to shake hands, Mora was trying to stave off a second Gatorade bath and Freeze was smiling and a good sport about it

Army down one to Troy, 10-9, under 4 mins to play.

Assuming Army goes down, they'll need to win out for bowl eligibility. It's UConn, UMass, and Navy.

the joke is she's employed to call football games

can a woman call football games? Probably. Can this woman call football games. No. Would I prefer a man calling football games. Yes. Would I want a man who does this bad calling football games? Absolutely not.

the only reason I tolerate fauria is because he's a former NFLer. This week he was more sedate than the UMass game where he clearly ate all the sugar in a 30 mile radius pre-game

I don't care if it's man, woman, animal, artificial intelligence, or other..... if they are good at calling football games, then i will enjoy & appreciate them.

I think Fauria sucks too, and he is both a man, and a former player. I think it was Corey Chavous (former minnesota viking) that was doing color for our games a few years ago. He was as bad as this young lady...and we crushed him for it. Right now, the Basketball board is beating up on the game-calling skills of Donny Marshall, a UConn alum !!!

My issue is that it's not sexist to point out that someone happens to be a woman, no matter what comes next in the statement.

Now that I think about it, if they just said "that person in the booth sucked", everyone would be confused, because of how much they both sucked. The identifier was not only not sexist, but 100% necessary.

Was out of town today and couldn't make the game. Is there a replay available without CBS Sports?

Welcome back, bro!

This place isn't the same without you, and neither is UConn...

Great great win, but can we give Robert Burns the ball some more, especially instead of idiot gadget plays with the back-up QB to the short side of the field? Could have cost us the game.

On the 3 down interception we should have handed it off and punted to pin them deep if we didn't get it. Sorry but we need to do a better job situationally.

Wow, just wow.

I played in a scramble golf tourney this morning supporting a veteran's rehab and re-integration group. Had a blast. Came home to watch this on replay.

I'm sure most of this has already been said, but, wow. Wow. Wow.

The Rosa TD run in the first half was perfect Rosa. An imperfect read, got a bit too deep on his run, and then busts a tackle and off he goes. Rosa has a high probability of being a Freshmen All-American. He's up to 8 TD's and as I mentioned earlier this week, he has a nose for 6 points. Between him and what Clingan is showing on the court, and a whole bunch of Connecticut pride is showing up bigly.

Jackson Mitchell. Nose for the ball. He is legit AA talent and numbers are backing up his impact bigly too.

Dave Benedict. Whatever inspired you to reach out to Mora, spend a few days and seal the deal??? Dayum!!!

Zion. Six wins as a starter this year after taking over in game one. As a true frosh. He has lost more games this year as a UConn starter than he did in three years starting for St. Thomas Aquinas in three years. I bet he feels way better tonight than he did after any season at STA. The TD pass to Clercius was beautiful. By far his best game spinning the ball.

Highlight of the game to me was in fourth quarter when Liberty had the ball and Mora called a TO. Know who was on his hip???? Zion Turner. Kid was engaged in the game and engaged with his HC. Dayum x infinity vibes there.

Mora and Charlton. Great combo.

Storming the field. Some dude was on there with his young son on his back with a back pack. Goose bumps. Why? When UConn beat USF in 2010 to go to the Fiesta Bowl, I had my son on my shoulders and my sister took a picture of it. Great memories. My son now goes about 6'3" 290 lbs and I would really hurt myself trying to hoist him up and walk him on to the field. I'll take solace in seeing next generation of dad/son do the same.

Did I mention "Wow, just wow! Wow!!"

I'm usually in favor of coasting to a win without a lot of stress, but to beat an 8-1 team coming off a win over Arkansas in a slug fest was oddly more satisfying. We punched, they punched, we punched.

Especially because Liberty totally took momentum on their side at end of first half and for first 10 minutes of third quarter and then the Huskies through a counter to their counter and Liberty didn't have a counter to UConn's counter.

Great afternoon to be at the Civic Center. Great comeback by the Men's Hockey Team as well.

I remember hearing about the UConn victory over Iowa State at the Civic Center back in 2002. Must have been a men's basketball game but I can't recall the details. Big step for the Football Program. Hope this victory is similar in the reemergence of football team.

FYI - If Army were to beat us next week, they would be 4 - 6. Not bowl eligible. You need 6 wins.

You currently have 20 likes for this novella that I will never finish reading.

I thumbsed up at Bigly.
