How many times did Baylor mug Paige and not get called for a foul? How many over the back blocks were not called? It's ridiculous to whine about that one call.

Go back and look at the rest of the favorable calls Baylor got ALL GAME, then come back and have a discussion.

Baylor did not lose because of that call. The game was close because of all the rest of the no calls that Baylor got away with.

It was very clearly a ridiculous no-call at the end of the game. At the same time, Baylor is one of those patented teams that fouls so much, the refs seem to stop calling them for it. They had more than enough gifts from the zebras over the course of 40 minutes.

But the officiating in the women’s game continues to be a massive problem. If they’re going to collect a paycheck, they need to do better.

Watching the Indiana - Arizona game and they can't help jawing that UConn wins with a controversial ending. And then going one better and saying there was nothing controversial about it -- saying it was a foul and it wasn't called. The UConn hatred is so powerful. Yes, it was a foul. But how many times have you seen a foul like that go uncalled at the end of a game. It needs to be more blatant than that for the refs to jump in and determine the outcome. But the disgust and vitriol in their voices was amazing. They love to beat up their biggest women's basketball moneymaker.

But on the sequence before that Baylor got to the line and hit 2 FT's on what looked like a phantom call. Not to mention Paige, CW and Aubrey all getting fouled on drives to the basket with no calls on Baylor. But by all means lets focus on the last play. From talking heads who largely were silent when Texas A&M won two consecutive games on BS calls.

You aren’t (nor should you) get a foul call on that last play of the game. FWIW, Baylor got a huge break on the previous play with the foul called on Edwards. Both she & ONO played good D and got jobbed. Baylor literally tried to hack arms off all night and got away with double-digit fouls.

Yeah. Mowins and Antonelli are bringing it up in the 2nd game, with ZERO discussion of all the fouls committed by Baylor that were not called during the rest of the game. It just props up the whole "UCONN won cuz of the refs" which is so untrue it's ridiculous. We would have won that game by double digits had the game been officiated properly. <rant off> LOL

Chill my friend. It was a foul and it wasn’t called. They didn’t criticize anyone.

Championship calibre game from two heavyweights. Too bad we can't have championship quality officiating. But this is nothing new so spare me the hand wringing - talking studio heads. I'm sure Peck will also blame the entire loss on Didi getting hurt while we we're down a starter and nobody said jack about that.

Indeed. Baylor played the old St John's rock ball game and was mugging people left and right. The officiating was horrid. The style of play, the physical nature of the game that the officials allowed to take place, ALL favored Baylor.

In general, and regardless of which teams it involves, referees are reluctant to call a foul on a play like that at the end of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if Geno told them during the last timeout that if Baylor gets a good opportunity close-in, defend it as aggressively as possible and don't worry about a foul call.

The refs wouldn't have made that call if the uniforms had been reversed, i.e., if it were UConn attempting a shot and Baylor defending. Nor should they, in my opinion.

It's the famous practice of "swallowing the whistle" so that the ref doesn't decide the game on a debatable call. If the refs had made that call in that situation (earlier in the game is different), they probably would have been downgraded by whoever evaluates tournament referees.

I remember a similar situation in a Notre Dame - Mississippi State tournament game a few years ago (2018?). Marina Mabrey arguably fouled a Miss State player at the end of the game after having the ball stolen, but no call was made. There were a lot of complaints on the Boneyard about that, but it's another example of the same thing.

If Uconn won because of the refs, why were the officials taking every imaginable second reviewing an OBVIOUS call to find some crazy way to give the ball to Baylor on the deflection from Edwards ? They made the right, obvious call in real time and then spent 10 minutes trying to invent a way that they made the wrong call.

The “let them play” favored Baylor the whole game except the last play. To bad so sad

Look carefully, this is a block not a foul, refs make good decision on this.

As good as the refs were in the Iowa game, these were so bad. But if you do not call fouls all game, do not even think about it on that play so late in the game. All game Lobo and Ruocco ignored Baylor bashing UConn, and then they get indignant. Seems like Lobo is so concerned with being called a homer, she tries to compensate. As far as Mowins is concerned, she has yet to watch a game she is announcing. She just prattles on about crap all game. So no surprise she talks about the game she did not call.
