It's a very, very, very good start. He can even coach for us down the road. His love for UConn and Connecticut is great.

We sure do. We have Stewart, Boyle and Marinan (any relation to their HC?) on the roster....

Do you not remember that the Spievey issue took place almost 10 yrs ago and that until this year we saw the best kids leaving year in and year out? Like Husky Medic said...it took P and GDL some time to build the relationships that landed these 6 in-state kids! Having Stewart transfer here and offering Marinan a preferred walk-on spot after a coaching change at Yale cost him a spot there were HUGE olive branches to keeping communication lines open with Boyle!

Exactly. Most mature people don't hold grudges. happens in relationships, and opportunities arise to mend fences.

Look at Butch and HuskyFanDan; they seem to be playing nicer in the sandbox these days....

True, but he was offerred by Florida. Hard to fault any kid for choosing Florida over almost anyone. He came back here even though he could have choosen another local school. The overall point is that Uconn now has a good relationship with the coaches at schools like Xavier. No matter who goes where to play and for what reason, that is a good thing.

True, and I don't know this off-hand but I think they did take a QB in the class. He stuck with BC even though he had that offer. When he de-committed from BC he didn't seem to be considering Florida anymore. Who knows if the offer was still available or if he was interested in them still. He choose Uconn when all was said and done. Not trying to debate the whole concept here, but it does appear that Uconn is doing better with Xavier than they used to.
 
The relationship with Xavier is good because Edsall is not the coach at UConn anymore.

And it's silly to think that a self inflicted fiasco from a kid in Texas will affect us negatively at all down there.

It's really not any more complicated than that.

It's ridiculous to think a high school coach would try to steer kids away from a school because they don't have a good relationship with the head coach. But it happens. A high school coach's job is to make sure a kid looks at all of his options. Marinan held a petty grudge and came off looking like a crybaby in the papers.

Wouldn't that depend on the reason for the poor relationship? The high school coach might have issues with the way the college coach deals with recruits and/0r players and might not think it is a good environment for his player. If so, I think the high school coach should tell the player his reasons for not encouraging the player to go to commit to that college, but also be fair in stating the potential benefits of of the player committing . V

It's silly for you to judge when you don't know the whole story.

And I am hearing coaches as far away as Houston want to know what happened to Lagow. Keep pulling self-righteous BS out your rear end. It's very simple. Coaches gossip like you do about UConn sports. And probably this message board.

I've given you a break because some posters on here vouched that you're a decent guy. But your act is old and tired. You can't continue to post here like a jerk and then whine and play the victim.

If you want to believe that you're more than welcome to. But it's stupid. But hey, you think people care about what happened on this day in UConn football history in 1938.

Act? What act? All I did was say you are incorrect on the impact that'll occur with this loss. I can't call you what you said silly? You pretty much called what I said silly. Or was it "self-righteous BS out your rear end"? I don't care for anyone to have sympathy for me. Respect is not much to ask for.

And to be honest, I have no idea what happened on this day in 1938. But I am sure the UConn athletic department does. They keep far more in touch with the past than I do.

I said it was silly because it is. I tell some of my best friends that stuff they say is silly all the time. You want respect, then show some. There's nothing worse than someone lecturing everyone else about civility when they constantly post like a jerk. My 2 cents.....you have a very thin skin.
 
Butch is right that this is a highly visible break-up between the Texas 7v7 state champion QB and UConn, IF the breakup in fact occurs. It undoubtedly raises eyebrows and doubts. Texas coaches and players will identify with the Texan and it would surely have a negative effect on UConn's Texas recruiting.
 
I have been quiet long enough.

Lets face it. Uconn staff smelled a prima donna who didnt want to compete. Instead of risking it all on someone who might flake, they wanted a worthy alternative. And who can blame Coach P for wanting another QB. This team cannot afford to slowly sink via underperforming QB play as we have since Danny O. We need options. We need QBs who want to compete. No prospect should ever threaten a school that they dont want competition. Life is full of comp, if you dont like it, shut your lip and look elsewhere, but dont tell the media, dont voice it in twitter, just look for another school - try I-AA.

Lagow only has himself to blame.

The facts are their Texan boy wonder didnt want to compete....end of story. His choice. Enough cuddling.

"Constantly" is blowing it out of proportion. I treat most people here civilly. You might be an exception as well as a few others. You see me go at nelson? Ever? I actually think he is quite an intelligent person but is free to think what he wants to think. I've said it before I know I have thin skin. I am not going to go into that. Moving on...

He eventually became willing to compete, if I should put it that way. This might be more about broken promises than anything else. All I will say.

If we don't sign Lagow, we might really have to start hoping PP gets the boot after this season. FWIW, Texans, even football people, have a LOT of respect for UConn and this state.
