From ESPN:

With the early signing period just a couple of weeks away, most top recruits are advancing in their recruitments. This weekend, three coveted top-40 big men are expected to take trips. Kofi Cockburn (No. 31) appears unlikely to make a decision during the early signing period, but he will take an official visit to UConn this weekend. It will be his first official visit, although he has taken unofficial trips in the past to Storrs and the campuses of other schools. Pittsburgh and St. John's also are receiving some buzz for Cockburn, but don't be shocked to see other universities jump in the mix.

Kofi Cockburn prediction: Connecticut
Confidence level: 40 percent
Others in the mix: Pittsburgh, St. John's, Illinois, others

Is the early signing period set around the high school basketball season so the kids can focus on high school ball without this as a distraction?

I don't think the visit starts until Sunday as he has a game on Saturday at 3:00p.

Not really.

It’s kind of arbitrary and it doesn’t mean much anymore.

The NLI has been losing its importance over the past half-decade - they used to be ironclad and now any kid who wants out can pretty much be assured of winning a waiver.

It’s kinda ceremonial at this point.

Might take FSU out of the Kofi sweepstakes now that they’ve locked up a center

Was wondering who was gonna win the bid for this kid. Took me a second to see if I was in the Kofi thread or the NCAA scandal thread

Unless the kid’s name is Sid Wilson.

So what is it about Leonard Hamilton that gets him so many highly regarded recruits?
Could it be his overall record of 527-418 in his 30 years as a head coach?
Is it his track record winning AXX championships?
Is it the 11 NIT's with one trip to the1/4 Finals and one trip to the Semi-Final?
Is it his 9 NCAA's with one Elite Eight and two Sweet Sixteens?
Is it Zero Final Fours?
Or, is it the Stansbury method?

I’m sure the FSU girls don’t hurt.

You also forgot how relatable as a septuagenarian he likely is.

Unless the kid’s name is Sid Wilson.
The issue with Sid is he attended “classes”, at least in theory. If he didn’t “attend class”, his waiver chances would have been better. The NCAA is looking out for academics - LOL.

It's because he was removed.
I figured that’s what the tweet implied. Good for us or were they never really in it?

Maybe. Has the NCAA cleared him to play? I believe there was the usual issue with international academic records.

Hurley is implementing his defensive system, which features man-to-man, ball pressure and a lot of science. It’s an attacking style, it’s an aggressive style that creates turnovers, creates blocked shots and get player out in the open court where they can use their athletic ability. It’s a demanding style but once you learn it, there’s no other way you’re going to want to play.

“There are very strict rules on where you want the ball to go,” he said, “where you want to funnel the ball and certain passes you don’t want to allow so you can keep pressure on the opponent. There is a lot more science to it, understanding where you need to be in relation to the ball and your man, knowing how to guard every time of screening action.”

Sounds like watching UConn basketball is going to fun again.
