Timing is everything. Gotta give the mustangs credit, they did beat ranked Louisville. The rest of the schedule is about as soft an ACC schedule as you could put together.

I'd say Army is the most successful team to transition to the Power 5. Undefeated even.

Bwhahaha. Nice try. AAC is not "Power" anything.

SMU has donor commitment that makes P2 powers jealous. Like having a billionaire pro sports owner who doesn’t care about revenue, just winning. Their ascent should be no surprise.

Ok Mike Aresco.

Their donors are sone of the wealthiest in Texas and the USA. And they actually care about sports. But they still have a surprisingly empty stadium.

Still can’t get Dallas metro buy-in. A pro sports (and UT/A&M) town. Maybe that will change with a bunch of 10-win seasons in the ACC, maybe not.

If they were smart they would change the conference name from the AAC to the Power 6 conference, or better yet, the Power 5 conference.
Taking a page from Kathy Griffin, who named her book during the Oprah heyday "Book Club Pick"

Tough for private schools who have more alums that go elsewhere as opposed to settling locally.

This.

At their height of popularity (early 1980's with the Pony Express. Regularly sold our Texas stadium-the Cowboys home) the crowds were there because it was an event. That SMU was the host was merely incidental.

They were in a lot of ways similar to Georgetown basketball of that era. It was a fad, nearly all who went to the games had little connection to the school beyond living reasonably close to the professional sports venue where the college team in question played. Without a winning product that also has some "it crowd" appeal it is nearly impossible for the school to draw fans.

Look at that! They can't even spell power correctly!
"We will put the six right in there with the word power! If that doesn't convince them, I don't know what will!"

I think he left the position of AAC Commissioner. That's too bad. I wanted mail him a 5x7 UConn Husky logo with a tiny hidden camera just so I can his reaction when he opens the envelope and sees the logo :D

I remember he was really angry when UConn left the AAC.

Well, don't be a dick then. he yanked us around pretty consistently and giving away the rights to UConn women's basketball basketball to ESPN plus was the straw that broke the camels back.
