I still then it is possible to keep elite basketball teams if you fold football. You will also save even more money because you then get rid of a bunch of women sports that are non revenue producing since could offset under Title IX. In fact outside basketball, hockey and baseball/softball rest of UConn sports should be club level or be fully funded by alumni. All of those sports have men and women sports so no title IX issues.

It's one game.
I mean, seriously. I am frustrated as a fan, but anyone making these dumb proclamations … we can’t get players as an Indy. That’s just the way it goes. We gotta hope we can hit on the portal and NIL

Tough spot against Maryland and a. Poor performance by the team. Should be better next week. I don’t think it exposed anything but we don’t have enough talent to compete with a mediocre power conference team.

Right now I am not sure UConn is the a top G5 squad.

Did you see the catch by the safety of Georgia? He is better than any of UConn receivers.

The separation of the top FBS teams to everybody else is very big this year. Good thing UConn does not have TN on the schedule this year.

Our NIL is way better than some of these FCS and G5 schools who would beat the snot out of us.

It’s not just one game when it’s been 20 years. This is why we aren’t getting into a FBS conference.

I know in my bones that we will become a football school if we are in a power conference. We have the raw material (great athletic department, history of championships in multiple sports, great facilities, loyal fans, wealthy state, great academics, etc). We need the oxygen provided by a power conferences money, stability, access to bowls, etc to light the rocket. Give us a chance and we will meet the moment.

UConn needs to show something. Perhaps the football team having a bigger recruiting budget than WBB

Agreed. We have proven this already.

If by "football school" you mean a middle of the pack Big 12 team, then I 100% believe the program can be built to that level. If you mean that we would actually be competing for Big 12 titles and a playoff spot, then I don't think that's ever going to be possible and I'm ok with that. I just want us to be competitive again against your average to above-average P4 schools.

Ever?

Kansas did it.

The B12 is not that strong.

But if you look at the # of NFL players from UConn versus most of the B12 from 10 years ago, UConn was well ahead of most of the schools. I think you can get as much talent here, but we've never ever ever really had the coaching.

Maybe a great OC in Joe Moorhead, but other than that, it hasn't been good.

The funny thing is I still vividly remember (from about 40 years ago; yeah, I'm old) when the narrative from the local press, the national press, our fan base, opposing fan bases, even many administrators within our school said the same thing about our men's basketball program.

Map is 100% wrong. Only Fairfield County is in the NY DMA. Period.

Looks to be roughly the same to me.

That's weird because I grew up in Litchfield, CT and I watched every Knicks and Yankees game on WPIX and MSG and my choice for news was WNBC with Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons.
So - need to put my "TV nerd" hat on - sorry in advance.

Aside from people who hit the topography lottery and get things over the air, good portions of Litchfield and New Haven counties often can get NY channels on cable (ONLY!!), supplemental to their Hartford/New Haven locals. This is due to a provision called "Significantly Viewed" in the FCC/congressional/nielsen setup for DMAs. This is mainly due to just enough OTA signal bleed-in that advertsisers and affiliates want to include them.

Again, it's almost exclusively cable only - there have been attempts for satellite to join suit, but it's never really taken hold, unfortunately. Streaming providers similarly only give you one DMA.

It's also not perfect - some of the local affiliates will fight to get SV channels removed, so they get exclusivity. Example here:

For MSG and other RSN's, it's based on whatever the league and teams dictate. eg New Haven County gets some NY sports, and some Boston sports, but not all of both (eg Celtics and Bruins no, but Red Sox yes).

I mean, sure, except that
1) It draws the DMA boundary exactly at the county line, unlike the other map
2) Names the actual counties in the DMA, and which one

Aside from that, it's exactly alike?
