I'm fully aware that you already know the answer but for some reason you get some thrill out of playing the contrarian.

I will use the English Football League to describe where the landscape is extremely close to having evolved to:

EPL (top tier) - B1G; SEC
EFL Championship (second tier) - B-12; ACC
EFL League One (third tier) - Big East; perhaps no other conference
EFL League Two (fourth tier) - the better four or five of the remaining conferences
EFL National League (fifth tier) - the next three or four remaining conferences (conferences that doesn't currently worry about their one bid playing in a first four game but doesn't expect a seed better than 12 or 13).
EFL Regional Leagues (sixth tier) whoever is left (they may soon need to worry if their one bid will no longer be guaranteed).

We are looking in to the possibility of joining the B-12 because we do want to survive well beyond the next ten plus years.

Using that logic, one could claim that the best G level conference isn't far behind as the highest ranked group of five conference champion will also receive an auto bid.

The reality is that there is a large stratification between the B1G/SEC and the B-12/ACC and it will grow. It will be rare if in any season the B1G/SEC won't combine for six or seven participants in the CFP and it will be equally rare if in any season the B-12/ACC combine for more than three.

The gap between EPL and The Championship is much bigger than the gap between SEC/B1G and Big XII/ACC. The gap between Man City and the bottom half of the EPL is still bigger than the gap we're talking about.

It's more like saying B1G is EPL. SEC is La Liga. ACC is Bundesliga and Big XII is Serie A. Teams from any of those can win a Euro championship. The Pac was French Ligue 1 before it broke apart. MWC is maybe Eredivisie and American Conf is Liga Portugal. The Big East would be MLS because we aren't even eligible (not playing football).

But it is completely misinformed. Even if you only care about the Basketball Program (which is idiotic, but that is a separate issue), then you have to make the move to the B12. You can be disappointed that it has gotten to the point it has, that is fine. But saying "we don't need to make the change because we are have proven we can be successful in the Big East" is ignorant to what is going to happen to College Athletics in the next 5 years.

It is akin to the Blockbuster BOD laughing Netflix out to the boardroom in the year 2000 when they could have bought them for $50MM. Blockbuster laughed them out of the room as they thought "we own 90% of the movie rental business and own the industry. We don't need the online capabilities of Netflix as we can just dominate them out of the market". We all know how that turned out.

The entire landscape of college athletics is going change in over the next 5 years. If we do not make this B12 move now, then we will become irrelevant as an Athletic Department in 15 years. While we may not be excited that we have gotten tot his point, it is the reality and we must adjust or die. Let's not be arrogant and end up like Blockbuster!

If you look at the number of games last year that we lost by one or two scores, you can see how close we were to being right around 500 again. I am very hopeful that we can make a statement of sorts this season. Not confident, mind you, because there are so many unknowns, but hopeful.

Three critical plays/calls that could have turned the season had they went our way. Loss of starting QB game 1 2 years running, One poster said we should be able to find another Marcus Campbell, Dan Orlovsky, Scott Lutrus etc

The examples of calls/plays, catastrophic injuries and the recruits show there is an element of luck necessary if you can’t overwhelm the opposition with resources. I’m confident in our talent level and coaching being good enough, I’d really like to have Lady Luck ride with us this year.

Maybe Yormark would be able to gather the B12 decision makers and say, see, I told you! Let’s take a vote.
