The fact that it worked out the way it did makes it a bigger anti-trust problem, not a smaller one. But the sports executive should keep his legal takes coming. And BTN legal must have caked its pants to see a former executive opine on the anti-trust aspects of the Big 10 on Twitter.

And of course, who could ever forget...

This guy shares a (large) bit of the blame, too...

I don’t see it.
They think a conference being held up by a team from Nebraska with no pedigree and annual first round losers from Wisconsin projects sustained success and even dominance long term

Not to mention one coaching change away from being irrelevant again

This made sense in your head?

Marquette is a big brand..
With very very little to show for it. My point was that throwing around “we have the best league” based on recent successes of nobody schools and relying on that as the antidote to realignment is pretty short sighted.

The big east has big brand schools in the east and midwest.. three top ten schools this year..big name coaching hires… the defending national champions…sit back and enjoy the ride… the big east is going to be a lot fun this year

I think people overrate the Midwest brands when it comes to the Big East’s next deal. The Big East has two must-owns and a collection of second tier schools who are worth airing when they are good… plus some other schools in decent markets. (I.E. UConn makes a DePaul game airable. Creighton does not)

Without UConn the Big East’s next TV deal would likely remain flat, even in an environment where every other deal has gone up. With UConn the Big East will approach legacy AAC school money (~7M per)

For what the Big East is, that's not bad money. The small private institutions can survive off that.
