Here is a possible Rose Bowl compromise…..in years the Rose Bowl does not host a playoff game during the traditional Jan 1 time window, what if a regular bowl game took place pitting the B1G vs. PAC and it was called the Rose Bowl Classic? It would never matchup the champions of either conference since they will be in the playoffs, but it could matchup a bowl-eligible team from both conferences in that coveted time slot on New Years Day.
In the very long run, you are probably correct, but I still see games being played in the Rose Bowl for many years. Remember, Pasadena restricts the number of large events at the Rose Bowl to 15 per year (it used to be 12) as they didn't want an NFL team to play there. They recently completed a renovation and signed the Rose Bowl through 2043 and UCLA football through 2044 (no opt out clause). And, an on campus stadium has already been nixed, so UCLA will be playing there in 10 years. In 10 years, no games will be played there. The "Rose Bowl" will move to the NFL stadium. There is no justification to renovate it further for just one game oer year. UCLA wants out as much as the BY wants an on campus facility.
The Rose Bowl stadium is going the way of Ebbets Field. It's not Fenway or Wrigley and won't be spared the wrecking ball. The ownership may not realize that but they should.
Correct. The Rose Bowl Stadium will host some 2028 Olympic soccer matches. The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in LA so there is probably some plans for it to be used for that.
Actually I found the tweet quite funny. It referenced “biggest brand who is leaving soon” IE USC and you get the Utah AD saying we aren’t leaving lolFamous last words.
Thought that was the Colorado AD.Actually I found the tweet quite funny. It referenced “biggest brand who is leaving soon” IE USC and you get the Utah AD saying we aren’t leaving lol
"For now" just means they are waiting to see if UConn wins its bowl game and the basketball teams win a national championship. If so then we're in!!
