That's it. He's an empty suit. He has to perform for his masters.Because the check keeps clearing. Can’t think of any other reason at this point.

They are waiting for UConn to lack institutional control before they move againI think the NCAA is just about toothless now with the upper echelon of college athletics. When is the last time you heard about a kid or program getting sanctioned for academics or behavior? Did these kids all of a sudden become scholars and Boy Scouts? I think if the NCAA went to a major program in either the SEC or BiG or to the conferences directly with some type of enforcement action they would get laughed out of the room.
Response would be - "yeah, well, give me a reason to leave......."

Well, I'd like to think if a kid did something egregious like get paid by boosters, they act against him. Oh wait, that's legal now...I think the NCAA is just about toothless now with the upper echelon of college athletics. What has he brought to the table besides a resume? What has he shown in the job? He's had it over a year. This argument is silly. Baker was CEO of a healthcare company, then a successful Republican Governor of one of the most Democratic states in the country. He could have gotten a lot of jobs.
I don't think NIL money counts toward academics. If you want the athlete to go to class, and pass courses, that will cost extra.I think the NCAA is just about toothless now with the upper echelon of college athletics. Baker was not known for bold leadership when he was Governor of Massachusetts which is what the NCAA desperately needs right now. Unfortunately, I think he is the wrong guy for the job. This argument is silly. Baker was CEO of a healthcare company, then a successful Republican Governor of one of the most Democratic states in the country. He could have gotten a lot of jobs.
What would require sanctions anymore? Kids are getting paid by boasters over the table now. If a kid has academic issues they just enter the portal before it impacts the school because they can transfer freely forever. Behavior issues are a joke. The bottom line is that everything schools used to be sanctioned for are either acceptable now or are solved by kicking a kid into the portal.I think the NCAA is just about toothless now with the upper echelon of college athletics. Because the advantage of an extra year is only for those who can afford it.The clock doesn’t have to start if you aren’t in an NCAA school. NAIA and JUCO count too.
If you’re still in high school basically repeating your senior year then it doesn’t for obvious reasons.
Boarding schools have plenty of $ (Taft has a $350 million endowment, NMH close to $200 million) for the right athlete and provide financial aid to many students. Rich kids go there from the start, not just for an extra yearBecause the advantage of an extra year is only for those who can afford it.

Not much more UConn can do to get into a power conference. This game was happening DURING the CFP.
This may be true but if the Big East didn't invite us back, where would we be?We bring so much freaking value to the Big East, it is absolutely absurd we are sharing equally with the others.
Pretty sure the top teams in the P2 feel the same about sharing revenue with the likes of Northwestern, Vandy, Miss St, and Minnesota or any other bottom rung program in either conference. It's why I believe the next evolution is removing the dead weight. We bring so much freaking value to the Big East, it is absolutely absurd we are sharing equally with the others.
The same thing could be said about them, too...This may be true but if the Big East didn't invite us back, where would we be?
No, not really. They'd be the conference they were before we joined. Which was doing okay without us.The same thing could be said about them, too...
Not true. Their media rights would be significantly decreased without us. This idea that the Big East was somehow selfless in inviting us is comical. They invited us back for their own salvation as an alternative to actually investing in themselves, particularly on the WBB side. We owe them nothing nothing. No, not really. The conference they are without us is a mid major. I'm sorry to say it, but it's unfortunately true. Unless Cooley revitalizes Georgetown and unless Nova finds a way to do it without Wright, this conference is a mid major only...No, not really. They'd be the conference they were before we joined. The conference is on its way to mid major status with or without us. The WCC is one with or without Gonzaga. The conference they are without us is a mid major. It used to be top 3, even while we were in the American. They've been mid major for a few years now, honestly. Like I said, they needed us as much as we needed them...The conference is on its way to mid major status with or without us. The WCC is one with or without Gonzaga.
