Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Michigan going to the ACC is as probable as us getting a P4 invite! A snowball chance in hell!

We need to pursue football membership in whichever G5 conference will accept us.

I think there's 1% chance Michigan leaves the B1G. It's ridiculous that they are digging their heels in - they could admit guilt, fire the underling, and it would blow over pretty quickly with the public and without much penalty blowback until the NCAA acted on it which could be a year or more. But, no - they get all prickly with everyone. The conference is not some third party entity - it is made up of their actual peers and partners. Fight the NCAA but don't fight your own conference; especially after their recent other scandals... Total emotional arrogance by UM.
The guy has already resigned. They just suspended Harbaugh and didn’t let him know until he was on the plane to the PSU game when they had all week to announce.

All this before an investigation has even been finished and there’s no evidence that he was aware of this happening. The commissioner pretty much is doing the whims of other conference members crying over the situation and trying to drop the hammer before due process was done. Something like this wouldn’t even be possible in the SEC over signs. The commissioner would tell all those cheating dips to stop being female dogs.

Michigan is going to court and there’s a very real chance they may reveal a lot of the skeletons in everyone else’s closest since the conference is going over the moon over something so minor. And the relationship is not repairable, with this current commissioner at least.

Not sure why you're basically absolving UM on this, but here's an outsider's take...

1- there's a vast amount of undeniable evidence that Michigan has been cheating for years.
2- the staffer has been fired, but only after Michigan had been publicly outed months after the investigation started privately and with Michigan's awareness.
3- the coach, who has been penalized for other NCAA/B1G infractions just this season, is to be held accountable for direct and/or indirect knowledge of everything going on within the program. There's this concept of lack of institutional control, so a leader can't just look the other way or claim ignorance of wrongdoing underneath him or her.
4- there's this thing called progressive discipline and this is not a legal case in a court of law, so there's no requirement to have 100% of the evidence presented before initial discipline is handed out.
5- Harbaugh's three game non-sideline game coaching penalty is just the first step and really is just a bit of a slap on the wrist with more measures likely.
6- do other schools have cheating going on right now and in the past? Yup, pretty sure there's something going on at many B1G schools but this is not what's being investigated now. Will Michigan report something going on elsewhere? Seems like that will happen at some point. That's within their rights as a B1G member. But it doesn't absolve Michigan from what they're being investigated for now.
7- Michigan in the court of public opinion is really looking poor on all of this. Poor Head Coach, AD, and President perceptions abound. Supposedly their BOT's, major donors, and university professors' views are mixed on it.
8- usually when something reaches this point this fast, the outcomes are not good for the leadership. Seems like that's what is going to happen here, too.
9- whether in a court of law, the court of public opinion, or in a member-driven disciplinary process if remorse is shown, the penalties are usually handed down with that taken into account. There is little of that being shown by Michigan, so they are going to have to risk their track of behavior impacting what may or may not apply to their final penalties in this regard.

Every team steals signs. Michigan actually has proof that OSU and Rutgers shared Michigan signs with Purdue before the Big Ten Championship game. The act of sign stealing itself really isn’t that big of a deal. Connor just looked crazy with how far he went (rightfully).

The investigation was not started with Michigan’s awareness. It’s very likely that OSU hired a private investigator in this situation and obtained a lot of information in a very illegal way. Not just to NCAA laws. But actually laws. This was not being privately investigated by the NCAA or Big Ten.

As far as progressive discipline, there’s literally a rule in the Big Ten handbook that they can’t do what they did. It’s the whole reason Michigan is going to court. Their president actually spelled it out in his letter to the conference that they are breaking their own rule.

This situation has actually seemed to bring all Michigan parties onto the same accord with this. Don’t be surprised to see a Harbaugh contract extension before the OSU game. I’m not sure where you’re getting the mixed feelings thing from.

Michigan does not mind taking penalties for their actions, but they are jumping the gun here without due process because of court of public opinion. That sets a dangerous precedent. It also opens up a Pandora’s box now that this may go to court and Michigan may expose what others are doing. So are all the coaches going to be suspended too??

I’m actually looking forward to how the legal battle plays out. It could get ugly.

It’s not that they were stealing signs. It’s how they were doing it. Using technology and having spies in person at non Michigan games.

The investigators have a Mich spreadsheet showing who is attending which games.

The NCAA has begun offering players immunity because we are hearing that they have uncovered gambling issues within the program.

Michigan isn’t going anywhere.

.

The rule is that you can’t send someone to other stadiums to scout/steal in person.

Michigan broke that rule.

I have seen no evidence that Purdue or Ohio St did.

It’s a stupid rule and it doesn’t give a competitive advantage. The only reason it’s a rule is because smaller schools can’t afford to do it.

It’s already been reported in Michigan circles that they handed evidence that they shared Michigan signs with each other. Again, when/if things go to court (which will start with the TRO hearing Friday for Harbaugh to coach the OSU game) a lot of things may come to light.

@ZooCougar ive heard nothing about gambling rumors at all. Giving immunity in NCAA investigations is very common. He’ll in ANY investigation lol

You’re about to.

Again you are ignoring key facts. Nobody is saying that stealing signs is against the rules.

It’s the manner in which they occurred that is the issue.

It doesn’t matter if you think the rule is stupid.

And if doesn’t provide a competitive advantage then why do it?

The same reason you scout and watch game film. It doesn’t provide that much more of a competitive advantage. It’s something that everyone does too. Like you said, Connor Stallions was just a lunatic with it. That’s all there is to it.

Of all the dirt that happens in cfb Harbaugh is going to miss seven games this year over buying a recruit a cheeseburger and signs that aren’t that big of a deal. There’s a way bigger agenda going on hear against Harbaugh.

In person scouting is againts the rules. Using technology like they did is against the rules.

You’re obviously just another Michigan fan who doesn’t believe that the rules apply to Michigan.

Michigan fans and the people defending them are wild. This is like a kid saying he didn't steal the cookies while he has chocolate all over his face and a milk mustache to go with it.

The remind me of fans of another “team”. The ones in red but not Ohio..

You know, we probably would've beaten them in East Hartford if they hadn't been stealing our signs.

(For what it's worth, one of my friends is a huge Michigan fan and was at the game at the Rent. I'm looking forward to it to pointing out that every Michigan win is now in question... :))

Why have rules at all if we can just let everyone select which ones they want to follow based on what they could afford?

It would be funny if there were a huge (bad) pass interference call in the OhioSt game, just so we can hear the MI folks scream about "following the rules".

It’s not about that. It’s about due process and fair treatment.

If we broke the rule, fine. But finish the investigation and then make a ruling based on the facts you find. Don’t broke your own rules on dealing out punishment to trip over yourself to suspend a coach to try and screw a season. Then hand out a proper punishment for it.

The absurdity that this is getting so much airtime like teams aren’t blatantly dropping bags and tampering with players is also nuts.

But the point was, no matter how the public feels about this situation. Michigan is not happy about how the Big Ten commissioner has went about handling this process. Because of that there’s a very real possibility they rethink their position in the conference where they are the flagship program having an even revenue distribution with teams like Rutgers, Indiana, and Purdue.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Manup and take the L.

MI has been the whiniest cheater since Lance Armstrong ... so much so that I actually rooted for Penn St for the first time since Sandusky. And I'll be rooting for Ohio St in Ann Arbor for the first time ever.

Funny thing is, Cryan Day is actually the person who hired the private investigators to find this out because he got tired of getting his butt kicked. The firm is his brothers. But we’re the whiney losers… lol

Still beat PSU, after finding out coach was going to watch from the hotel room 24 hrs prior, on the road, while pretty much holding up a sign that said we were running the ball all second half.

But yeah, signs was the reason all these teams getting they butts kicked. Lol

Go to a Michigan board. You won’t get sympathy anywhere else.

College Football has become incredibly sleazy and Michigan is truly on the cutting edge on that front.

Fair treatment? Do you know what would actually be fair? Vacated wins, an indefinite ban from the playoff and lifetime bans from football for anyone involved

It’s not that deep. Every actual football player that has commented on it has said it’s not a big deal because everyone does it.

.-.
If dreaming, let’s go all out. Bring Penn State with them when they move over to the ACC. Make the money rain like manna.
