Army coach Jeff Monken recently acknowledged that continuing to play football as an independent in the current atmosphere of the Football Bowl Subdivision may be untenable going forward.
This sums up why UConn's future is very bleak if we can't go somewhere soon. Teams aren't going to have openings later in the season for us as there is going to be a tightening of the knot so a team like UConn is forced to leave. No extra games because everyone plays another conference game means one less game we can schedule. UConn needs to beg and I don't care about pride anymore. This is about survival. There's no long game to be played. The Big 12 crushed any chance of that even being a thing and then the ACC took two WEST coast teams to bury us a thousand feet under from going anywhere higher than a low G5. For God sake, Army is getting a football only invite over us. I won't be shocked when UMass gets one too.

He is no more informed than anyone else. How you people still fall for these guys is beyond me.

I guess there's a reason the snake oil salesman used to stay in business. Some things never change.
LA Times wrote an article on him last year how he knew before anyone else. He has legit contacts. Not like the others. He has yet to tell one lie in what he reports.

I can guarantee you that he didn't know before anyone else. He may have opened his mouth about it before anyone else but if he did it was because a) those involved with the agreement were not in a position to disclose any information and b) he was speculating and happened to be correct in this case.

The way I see it is if it’s 80/20 football and basketball then its

Football

Oregon st 40
Wash st 40
UConn -5

Basketball

Oregon st. 0
Washing st. 0
UConn 20

So 40 for wash and ore state and 15 for UConn.

Im curious if the big east and fox are going to come up with a new tv deal before the season.. or wait till after and possibly open negotiations with other possible tv partners.. I think the big east was waiting to see if uconn would leave the big east this summer..

Well it seems we haven't done it yet so maybe it's time to start
I guess. So by that same logic maybe you should beg your boss for a raise or alternatively go to a car dealership in big the car dealership to give you a car?

This was an important season coming off a bowl game, having gotten a somewhat serious look from the Big 12. The program has gone out and laid an egg
The UConn ability to get into a power conference has taken so many hits since the optimism of even 3 months ago. We have plummeted to the worst position since the Big East was initially raided .
To Recap
Coming off a NC in BB , and an apparent somewhat revitalized football program stoked the confidence and we thought we were a hot commodity.
The advances of the Big 12 were met with indifference in many quarters of UConn nation . We preferred the ACC or even Big East and a Big Time Independent football status if not ND than it’s little brother.
(My hope was to leverage the the B12 flirtation with an ACC invite even football only at zero money if necessary with a guarantee's number of men& women BB games .)
We were not only rejected by the B12 but contrary to the brilliant BY minds the ACC expanded in defense of future inevitable raids excluding us and pretty much putting a stake through our heart
The delusion of a Indy power fell apart in the reality that success at that level required a much bigger investment in football than we were willing to make .
Finally Army shunning independence and getting a spot in the AAC moved that Indy dream even farther away
The frosting on the Cake is that optimism of a football renaissance dies with each cut of another bleak Saturday loss .
