Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

He posted a video last night.

Again, the arguments against UConn makes no sense. If College Presidents don't know anything about sports, the argument doesn't hold weight. UConn is better academically, it opens a huge market, and it actually long term adds far more value than any corner state school.

I still firmly believe, between Yormarks comments and UConn's behavior, that we are partnered with Colorado. The wild card of course is Arizona. The silence is the Big 12 is trying to convince Arizona and then coupling them with a 16th.

At around the 12-13 min mark Aaron Torres said from the UConn perspective that they felt confident immediately after the Colorado move. But now not as confident. Yormark wants UConn and the presidents are hesitant.

I think some of these Presidents are just very anti-northeast. Probably OkSt based on Tramel carrying water for someone.

Torres is just another blowhard talking head. He is extrapolating a BY remark from a week ago to mean that the B12 will not go past 14 and that in his opinion the 14th will be AZ. No citation of a source. So he knows no more than we do.

I know he's a UConn guy but this dude knows nothing. Brutal listen.

Be patient. A P5 invitation is coming (at some point)... albeit it's certainly taking a LOT longer than is justified.
I’m beginning to wonder
The ACC has the better brands and the power in this. They could lose 4 schools and still have better brands. Even better, they are located in densely populated states on the Atlantic seaboard.
ACC is under achieving. They could be proactive but instead are waiting for shoes to drop.
Funny, history does repeat.
Always comes back to Notre Dame.

Yormark's entire strategy, is coast to coast, with a global presence. He wants/needs NYC to remain viable long term. Only one school provides that. This idea that football only is driving the bus is outdated. Yormark knows long term what UConn provides. Its not that hard a sell and Presidents should understand that vision. The silence is causing massive speculation by the herd. Maybe nothing has changed. They are postering for 16. If it was just Arizona and 14 schools, i think it would have been made public over the weekend.

He seems to repeat himself a lot. He’ll make statement, then rephrase it using different words. His podcast could be 1 minute, but instead it’s 5.

Also, clarifying who Brett Yormark is doesn’t help. If someone is listening to your podcast and they don’t know who Brett Yormark is, they’re not you’re audience. They are lost.

No idea if he has sources or not, but I think he has pretty decent sports radio (pod?) chops.

Almost no umms, uhh, ya knows. Definitely comes off as prepared.

On the other hand apparently ESPN posted something similar? Whether or not that was prior to or after the B1G news I have no idea. The B1G news changes everything.

If AD DB wasnt confident, would he really have given Hurley a contract that is more than the tv revenue. His actions say one thing that people are ignroing, his words........well, it’s been radio silence.
I don’t Hurley’s salary is tied to TV deal. Basketball revenue (tickets, sponsors, merch) and donors are more than enough to cover Hurley’s salary

It doesn't make any sense for Tramel to be so obsessed with us unless he's got someone in his ear that's willing to talk just to get their perspective out there. The alternative is that he's just making things up.

Now, the good news about that is people wouldn't be in his ear about the negatives surrounding UConn if there wasn't real chatter and momentum for us being added.

The bad news is that someone or a faction is very clearly against adding us and doesn't want to budge, and is using his hit pieces to try and influence the direction of their plans.

But didn't someone say the B1G contract doesn't pay them more if teams are added? If you're an existing conference member are you willing to take a pay cut until the next contract just to add Washington or Clemson? If it was a team like Alabama, OK then maybe you consider it, but short of a team with that kind of impact, I don't know if you'd get enough people on board. That's enough reason to not buy into these B1G rumors.

The people talking on twitter, youtube, low circulation Oklahoman newspapers are using metrics from the first round of realignment. The paradigm has shifted. Yormark understands this and understands what it will take to survive long term. That screams UConn. Surely, Big 12 academics can wrap thier heads around this. I dont expect a guy named Berry or a pawn like Thamel to do the same.

you are missing the point.

Tramel is repeating what someone is telling him (or he is making things up/misinterpreting them). Sure it's an "opinion piece" by him but it's really someone elses opinion and he's putting it out into the ether as some part of a strategic play. If that wasn't the case then administrators from one or a couple schools wouldn't be talking to him and giving him their perspective.

Yormark doesn't automatically get whatever he wants and clearly there are people in the Big XII who don't want us in the Big XII, for whatever reason that may be. Maybe they really just hate Yankees

Well said.

I’ll see you Berry and Thamel and raise you GoKU.

Don’t mess with Goku

I understand the point. The guy in his ear can be anyone. Who is to say its a Big 12 President? Or anyone from the Big 12? Maybe its someone from the outside scared to be left out. I don't know. You don't know. Treat it as such.

I'll treat it however I want to treat it.

To @JMick ’s point… the problem is that the words/opinions of the people carrying water for others gets amplified in other industry publications: From today’s D1 Ticker Newsletter:

Most times, people in the media are pawns. On Wall Street, there is an inverse ETF on Jim Cramer's recommendations. Its quite popular. Why? Because he is wrong more times than he is right. Same here. There is little substance to anyone talking. The important people have all been silent.

I hope B12 dangled the 14 and one spot left thing to get P12 schools to move. I also hope it is Arizona and Arizona State they are trying to pry loose vs. just Arizona alone. I believe Yormark and the B12 got UConn and Colorado approved back in May 2023.

I also believe the rumor that #13 and #14 got already approved pro rata by ESPN and Fox, but #15 and #16 got approved by ESPN ($20M) but not yet by FOX ($11.7M). B12 is working with FOX to get the final approval for #15 and #16 pro rata.

The story that got floated over the weekend about B1G taking Oregon, Washington, Clemson, and FSU is just another rumor to destabilise the PAC-12. The story was probably floated by someone within the B12 to get Arizona and Arizona State to move. I wouldn't be surprised if was floated by Yormark's team. I don't believe Clemson makes sense for the B1G but FSU does.

Ultimately, the B12 wants to end up with Arizona, Arizona State, and UConn. It will be 3 in the West with 1 in the East.
