Rough day for Oklahoma: The Red River Rivalry goes to FS1, Baker Mayfield rule shot down, Texas smacks them down on expansion.

Jeff Jacobs ‏@jacobscourant 17m17 minutes ago
Let me get this straight: Before the consultants even bring all their presentations, Texas AD says he sees no need for expansion.

Jeff Jacobs ‏@jacobscourant 12m12 minutes ago
Wonder if the presidents and ADs of other Big 12 schools have to ask Texas permission to use the restroom.

Asked Texas AD Mike Perrin about Big 12 adding a fifth Texas school with Houston: ‘We’re in the Houston market. LHN is there.

Neill Ostrout ‏@NeillOstrout · 33m33 minutes ago
So Texas' position is "We don't want anybody and we sure as heck don't want Houston."

One True Headache

@DMVFOLLOWERS ‏@IllmaticDMV · 1h1 hour ago
@JonSolomonCBS Who is their best expansion candidate in your opinion, CIncy? Memphis? Hard to decide who is worth bringing on

Jon Solomon‏@JonSolomonCBS
@IllmaticDMV There are no A candidates. I have yet to hear a persuasive argument why Big 12 should expand now.

Again, one line by Perrin stood out by a mile............Perrin: "If there was a move, it'd have to keep us whole" (Translation: It might take more than $15M/yr for Texas to give up Longhorn Net)

There it is. Texas's lone concern, goal, objective. They will go down screaming until the very end or until they get the best deal possible. There literally have no incentive to voice support or be cooperative until the very end. They know that. Boren knows that. Both sides are playing their hand well. In the end, I suspect that both sides get what they want. Big12 expands with UConn and Cincy. The LHN is rolled into a Big12 network. Texas is made whole plus some sweet Tier 3 deal. OU gets similar Tier 3 deal. Everyone wins. Except Houston and Memphis.

Devastating news for AAC teams/BYU RT @davidubben: Texas AD Mike Perrin on expansion: “The prudent thing is to stay where we are.”

@McMurphyESPN devastating seems a little over dramatic

@djneltz ask those trying to get in Big 12 how devastating it is not to increase media rights $ by at least $20M/year

Well, I guess FedEx won’t be naming rights sponsor for Big 12 title game

@McMurphyESPN @davidubben I'm confused - Does the UT AD get to unilaterally decide these things?

@CalGTR no. But if Texas not on board it won’t happen.

Is hate too strong a word? Nah. I hate McMurphy more than anyone. What a loser! If Perrin had so much clout, why even see the presentations tomorrow? Might as well cancel everything. The overreaction by these hack journalists only justifies how dumb they really are.

Texas AD Mike Perrin doesn't realize his opposition is futile. The Wake Forest car wash has spoken.

Don't forget, your hard earned Connecticut taxes are a little higher (tax credits to the mouse) to help pay his salary

Kind of amazing to read the AD of Texas basically give a fellow conference member the finger. From the beginning West Virginia was promised travel partners, this is basically Texas telling them to go pound sand.
It is a bit of a thumb in the eye. But as I said elsewhere, I think this is just UT fumbling for excuses to justify being anti-expansion.
Relax. Duarte is the beat writer for Houston.
Just to state the obvious, the Texas AD made a comment about travel, and the writer interpreted that to mean "Oh, UConn's eliminated" when the AD didn't say anything about anybody being "eliminated".
