I'm still lost on his comment on coach K.

With JC now retired how is it an argument that K isn't the best coach in the country. Who else comes close? I'm not a big fan of K but give the man his due.
Totally agree. Nobody in the business is as good as K right now. Nobody else has 4 titles and 8? Final fours

For contrast, can you put up UConn's list of away OOC?

Please someone post this since like 1998. No wonder Syracuse is having a circle jerk over playing Duke.
Not going to promise that this list is perfect, but just glancing back at schedules:

2010-11 @ #12 Texas
2008-2009 @ #7 Gonzaga
2007-2008 @ #8 Indiana
2006-2007 @ #19 LSU
2005-2006 @ #21 Indiana
2004-2005 @ #25 OU
2003-2004 @ #9 UNC
2002-2003 @ #9 OU
2001-2002 @ #10 Arizona

Go back just a few years further and we have a handful more. What this shows is Uconn will play anyone, anywhere, anytime. We don't pussyfoot around with our schedule. Occasionally the OOC teams we schedule home and homes with don't pan out (Washington for example), but every single year we have at least a few P5 home and home games.

Well is it any surprise that after all these years all boeheim has is one title? Maybe if they played a good team on the road more often, they may not get bounced early every year in the tourney.

you guys probably aren't smart enough to understand this - but the season isn't over yet - they still have to go to Duke, UVA, Maryland, Florida State and Pittsburgh tonight..

admittedly, they don't play juggernauts like Houston, UCF, and Rutgers on the road anymore, but somehow they are still managing to survive..
Thanks for the education, I guess the rest of us dummies just should keep quiet and let you continue professor

If you think Duke is over-rated then you know nothing about basketball - right now they are playing as good as anybody in the country - they have the best player in the country and arguably the best coach
Best player in the country professor??????????
You are delusional

Syracuse away OOC games vs ranked teams (since 2001).

2008: at #23 Memphis
There is no way this is correct. You must have missed a few games.

Seriously, that information can't be possible.

The only thing making me believe it's true is that dickwad hasn't posted since you put that up.....and Memphis was barely in the top 25 LOL

When a coach doesn't allow men to play defense like men, I can't be surprised that he won't schedule a manly OOC game on the road either.

Prob just gonna get flamed for this, but Syracuse has played many games that while aren't "true" road games, were in the other teams back yard. Last year, they played #20 SDSU in San Diego, and were the only team to beat Arkansas at home. They also have played #10 Florida in St. Petersberg, and #22 Kansas in Kansas City, to go along with a slew of neutral court and MSG games against ranked opponents. Syracuse is by no means playing an ooc juggernaut schedule, but there are many teams who do the same and don't get called out for it nearly as much.

For reference, Duke did not play a single true road ooc game this year, and played all of 1 last year (at davidson).

Finally, someone calls this out. Syracuse does this nearly yearly, but this year's might be the worst yet.

A hoop stat I stumbled onto this morning: Through its first 18 games of the last 5 seasons, Syracuse has gone 88-2. Yeah, 88 and 2
Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst2h
Non-conf Syracuse wins in that 88-2 stretch: UNC, Fla, Mich St., Mich, NC State, Memphis, Baylor, Indiana, SD State. Ark, Nova - and more!

Quse is good. But their girly conference and the fact they will be tested very few times the remainder of the is year (Dook is vastly over rated) makes me think a mid-major is going to smack them in their pie hole in the NCAAs and they will not have an answer.
A mid major team from the AAC? Like say Houston or SMU, Memphis? or even the Huskies. If UCONN played in a real league they would not be a 500 team. God next year you lose your legit contender in Louisville. UCONN better hope it gets an offer to join the ACC or in a few years the women will be able to beat the men.

Oh, ok. Well, that's kind of like scheduling home and homes with UNC, Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, Florida, Michigan State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, and Gonzaga. Good job!

Don't sleep on the AAC my friend. Also, don't sleep on Father Time. He might be coming after your conferences top coaches pretty soon..then we'll see how you're feeling.

Why do you guys come over here to embarrass yourselves? You and ebuckles need to stay where you belong and maybe visit us when you beat vermont in the first round……Until then the BY is for champions and there's no place for tee shirts here

I'm sure that plays no small part in why we have three national titles in the last 15 years. It baffles me that Coach K and Boeheim can't figure this out - you lose NOTHING if you schedule tough OOC road games. Even if you lose the game (let's be real, one regular season game for top programs doesn't mean jack) it helps your team in the long run. Facing adversity, hostile crowds, tough situations, etc will only make your kids & team better and tougher.

How K/Boeheim have never felt it was a smart idea to take advantage of that is beyond me. Just foolish. Instead Syracuse sits in their little bubble playing scrubs at home and always come up short in March. No wonder they keep printing t-shirts for when they're #1 in the country in the regular season.

Actually our recruiting is back on the rise after the APR/Ollie-short-term-contract mess got put in the rear view mirror. The NCAA/Emmert (and Manuel's foolishness) tried to kill UConn's program but we just aren't going to die. Doesn't matter what conference we're in either. Sorry. We'll be back winning titles while Cuse continues to flame out in March. Maybe when Carmelo's kid is old enough to be in college you'll get another national title as it seems that's the only way Cuse is able to cut down the nets.

More NCAA Titles? UConn
Big East Tournament Titles? UConn
Big East Regular Season Titles? UConn
NBA Players? UConn

I mean what else is there that matters? Because we would probably beat you at that too

So funny how when it comes to bball UConn is all about Championships but then on football the posters here are all "we went bluh bluh bluh from 2004-2011 or whatever and were the 3rd best team in the BE over that span!"

Anyway, for awhile in the 90's Cuse did play a really bad OOC schedule. part of this was JB insisting on doing favors to Lemoyne, Colgate, Cornell (and now Eastern Michigan) to support other schools/coaches that get big paydays from playing Cuse. The past 10 years or so Cuse has done a lot more fall tournaments and gotten out there a bit more. They haven't had any of those headline Top 5 OOC matchups bc the scheduling is done years in advance and it just hasn't turned out that way. Indiana was #1 in the country for good stretches of last year, but they suck this year when Cuse played them. Not JB's fault. And the ACC scheduling this year is just weird with a down year for the conference and frontloading all their home games.

KenPom is usually pretty good, and yes the home/away disparity (i.e. hc advantage) is more statistically significant in college bball than any other major pro or college sport. I would quibble that @St Louis is a higher quality win the Duke, given how Duke was playing going into that game and other contextual factors that don't go into stats. Realistically, Cuse would not be favored over Kansas or Kentucky in March. Talent almost always wins out in bball (far more reliably than football or baseball), and those rosters dripping with lottery picks that will have their heads into the game playing defense in March are still the favs.

Cuse hasn't won more than 1 tourney because they've never had multiple 5-star talents on the roster. Their exits over the past 10 years (besides the Vermont fiasco) were almost always to Final Four-bound teams. So the fall scheduling has little to do with it.
