Kansas Post Game Thread

I'm very interested in seeing Braylon, Solo and Alex on the court together to watch them go toe to toe launching shots. I think they might feed off each other especially Braylon and Solo

If it happens, and it could, to see AK, Solo and Mullins, all on at the same time, it would be biblical.

What on earth does that mean? How did Braylon replicate pressure packed free throws in his driveway?

I don’t think he’s undercutting it by making it sound like just any old free throws, although I see how it could be read that way.

My impression of what he’s trying to communicate is he’s evoking the fantasy of an Indiana kid shooting free throws in his driveway, picturing the game on the line with the opposing student section doing everything it can to throw you off. In your fantasy, you keep it cool and knock’em down as if no one’s watching, and he’s giving Mullins credit for doing exactly that in a fantasy finally come to fruition.

He had 2 rebounds in the first half.

I don't think the stats tell the full story there. He essentially had a third where he walled up perfectly on Tiller to force a miss, turned, grabbed the board with two hands only to have Tiller knock it out of his hands out of bounds (arguably a foul). Team rebound, none to Karaban. He also had the rebound where Karoma fouled Bidunga, which probably didn't effect the play much. He also had the block on Bidunga that then went out off of Bidunga. He was credited with a steal and not a rebound on the failed lob on the out of bounds play.

Point is, he was active in crashing the boards.

Oh come on...its not replicating, but the imagining when you're 12 years old in your driveway..... "the kids at the line. Game is in his hands. Crowd is screaming" can he handle the pressure..."

We haven’t exactly had many good shots at KU before.

4. Lost a tourney game to them in Iowa in 2016 when KO was showing serious cracks in his coaching and again, they had a huge crowd advantage.
Not sure that's fair. Hamilton, Miller, and Adams shot a combined 8 - 33 in that game and the team overall shot 27.5% from inside the three point line. Kansas was the #1 seed and they only lost by 12

Well Mullins as advertised. So much to like but those two free throws first two of his CBB career and he no doubts both of them. And he can clearly play the three he looks every bit of 6’6” and he can rebound.

Reibe again gets better learning how not to foul.

Alex is going to benefit so much with Mullins on the floor.

Yup this team was constructed so much better than last year. I think the staff nailed it with this team.
31 mins and 3 PF. Never even looked out of breath. Very consistent. Head in the game. Remarkable for a freshman big. Mullins: you can see that he is going to be all that the preseason hype was about. What a great roster construction with lots of both experience and smart talented rookies. I am totally psyched because they are just getting started and they are off to a great start despite no Tarris. Dan Hurley and his great staff must be very pleased with this bunch of kids. Just please stay healthy and keep growing.

UConn basically went basically 8 deep yesterday. The lineup is getting pretty defined.

Can't say enough about Reibe. I thought he'd be a project and has really stepped up. All that international experience really matures guys.

Mullins really looks more than elite when he touches the ball. Physically he might look like a kid right now, but we might be in for a very very special ride with this guy.
LOL!! He might still look like that when he's 30

Mullins is a very special player, I saw it right away when I watched him in AAU/high school. Never expected Big Eric to be this good this early, he was great again.

AK huge bounce back after being a ghost. He did nothing and then all of a sudden he was doing everything. Solo needs to fix the mental mistakes because he is a dynamic scorer. Mullins and Solo together is just so dynamic. You can't lock down both of them..

Silas was totally lost today, impressive to win like that at Kansas while getting nothing from him.

That was a grown man win. We took a lot of swings from Kansas at points in the game and then we shut them down defensively. The offense eventually showed.

Mullins was the star of the game.

Going to be something special when Tarris is back to 100%.
Danny harped all preseason about wanting everyone playing tough defense. Looks like he is getting his message across.

Nice win in hostile environment without Reed and with mediocre point guard play. Now I see why everyone was so high on Mullins. Good shooter who plays defense and had some clutch rebounds and FTs to ice the game. Reibe had good game and Solo had a good offensive game.

This game helps cure my football related negative mood.
Giant fan?

We have plenty of people saying he's better than Clingan. What's wrong with arguing that point?
I guess I haven't noticed. The one's that say he'll be really good next year seem to stick more.

Hard to say. McNeeley was legit our best player in December of last year before he got hurt. I don't think he ever got right after that.
No question and the injury definitely slowed him down. He overlapped with Karaban last year and it seems like Mullins and Karabans games compliment each other better.

Hey youngsters .....

This is what it used to be like playing Pitt back in the Jamie Dixon days. First team to 60 wins.
Along with Troutman and Krauser who both looked like they were in their 30's.

I could not agree more. He settles for way too many 3s and is actually a really good creator and distributor. I love him as a passer at times, and just wish he would put the ball on the floor more and look to setup players but also move a little more without the ball for some cuts and easier baskets.
Indeed. And I don't mean driving layups. I mean the kind of hesitation dribbles that keep his defender on his hip, gets him off balance and allows Stew to get a lightly contested 10 foot shot in the lane. Kind of thing Castle is / was really good at. Stew just doesn't do it often enough

Well Tristen had some growing pains with us. Took awhile but he wound up an AP 1st team AA.

Demary has been with us 8 games so would say let’s be patient.

Mullins as predicted by many had a breakout in bench minutes. Next game is ideal for him to start and let Stewart come off the bench like Ross as needed.

When we did a 4 man hockey style exchange it was to rest and talk to the players - Koroma added 5 minutes of rest for Reibe and while unspectacular the value was resting Reibe and all else is gravy. Koroma is all offense and little defense. Mainly putback artist or like Samson a dunker but usually from the side.

Demary / Ball / Mullins / AK / Reed is our best lineup when all healthy.

I don't know if he was referring to the game or the season as a whole. But that team was far more talented than their record and eventual seeding reflected, and it should have been better than they were. The 2015 team got a pass because of the massive loss of talent from the previous roster, but 2016 was a sign that not all was well . . .

I tried to tell you all about Mullins. The dude competes. He’s not some scrawny kid who is going to get pushed around. He’s smart, tough and has moxie. His shots won’t always go in - but he brings a ton to the table.

(Sorry, sorry - just one of those times I love being right).
You really went out on a limb and saying a McDonald’s all American is potentially really good huh? 😂
