True, but Clingan would have blocked it.That intimidation by Relibe on KU last shot was a thing of beauty.

I could not agree more. He settles for way too many 3s and is actually a really good creator and distributor. I love him as a passer at times, and just wish he would put the ball on the floor more and look to setup players but also move a little more without the ball for some cuts and easier baskets.Stewart is actually pretty good in the lane. Even last year I thought he might be able to create shots the way Castle could. And I've seen flashes of it this season as well. Wish he would stop settling for threes and create better shots for himself in the lane.
He's one of the best at creating his own shot I've seen in some time. Makes tough, guarded shots routinely. Reminds me of Kobe minus an inch or two. Minus Reed, he would have changed the outcome. With Reed, different story.I did a search for that Kansas kid's stats. I could be wrong, but I saw nothing in that kids past that is anything other than promise for the future. Nothing that showed he was a game changer that would've handed them a win.
Agreed and for my money, Allen Fieldhouse is the best arena in college basketball bar none--better than Cameron Indoor. It just looks incredible!Gee, you think Mullins will always remember playing at Allen Fieldhouse?? Unreal.... 2nd college game and he looked 10x better than the last game. He totally belonged.

Posted this in Chief's thread, but Kansas was getting no offense from Tiller, who was guarding Alex in those first 30 minutes. They put Trey White at PF and used Tiller as the backup C. Alex recognized his size mismatch on White and started going to the rim to get those points. He was only 1-5 from 3. Maybe a mistake by Self. Alex did play very good D on Tiller.Karaban came up huge with those three buckets to give us the lead. Props to Mullins but we don’t win the game without Karaban tonight, which is crazy because the first 30 minutes or so of game time it was frustrating watching him shoot.
Gutsy win that wasn’t pretty, but I’ll take it.
Reibe blocked itTrue, but Clingan would have blocked it.
Karaban’s D on Tiller, when he has struggled with players like Tiller, was a hugely positive development in the game and bodes well for the rest of the season.Posted this in Chief's thread, but Kansas was getting no offense from Tiller, who was guarding Alex in those first 30 minutes. Every time I see posts like this about Demary all I can think about are the people complaining about Newton ("We don't have a point guard") in January 2023. Demary will have some good games (he looked pretty good against BYU) and some bad ones (tonight) but I really am confident he's going to settle in nicely by January or early February.
That is what happened, and I do not believe the commentators made any mention of it.
Correction -- Karaban was having a miserable shooting game. His rebounding and defense had been pretty good even in the first half.Karaban was having a miserable game…until he wasn’t. Great play down the stretch to seal it
I'm still processing that one. I was 16 and soooo excited to see our undefeated, #2-ranked team go to KC and beat them, and we got absolutely slaughtered. This was when there were still questions if JC could win the big game, and then we went out and were down 20 by halftime and scrambled to get it under 30.
Someone mentioned young Ray, and it was that sorta vibe. Mullins could get anywhere he wanted, and his release is so quick that he can get a shot off easily. In 20ish minutes, he showed he is by far our most talented offensive player and should be getting 28-32 minutes as soon as he is fully acclimated. And to cap it off, he played solid D, and in a big spot took his first college free throws and was $$. He could be a really special player.
We are not Syracuse!

Not just that, it's pointless. Giving Reibe praise is not a threat to DC's legacy.
Well, the Cuse game kept us from seeing our tipoff. So yep, it was noticed. On that front, did anyone notice that they got what was probably their best OOC win in half a decade last night, and it was still an afterthought nationally?

The off ball movement is reminiscent of Rip. He just knows how to find the correct spot based on what the defense is giving him in a way that (for example) Ball does not. A couple of times our guards didn't even recognize that he got himself open by using Kansas' switching scheme against them.
Riebe has a presence that was respected more by KS as the game wore on. His switches and returns to defend the hoop are way beyond a freshman. I love his offense and great spin move in the first half which was negated by a waving arm attached to a 7+ foot body. Nice move! WOW!That intimidation by Relibe on KU last shot was a thing of beauty.
Agreed that Silas had his worst game to date in a Husky uniform, but I thought he did bring the energy early, causing a couple tie-ups in the first few minutes of the game. Didn't love the 5-second inbound violation though.Too soon to worry about Demary. Kansas has put some unique pressure on our point guards - the offense doesn’t flow as well against a good switching scheme. Same thing happened last time and we didn’t run good offense, and Newton ended up forcing things - only difference was that it worked a lot. Yesterday Demary and Smith ended up forcing things when the offense bogged down - and it didn’t.
There were games this year when I posted in chat rooms that Demary was really looking outstanding at managing our offense. Ahead of where Newton was this early. But this was an example of a good scout/game plan taking him away from what he does best and him needing to go to a Plan B. Then he pressed trying to make things happen and it didn’t go well. So now he can go back to the lab and be more prepared. Individual possessions will go poorly in every game - maybe not as consistently as Kansas, but it’ll happen. And he needs to be ready to give us something out of nothing once in a while.
How is he sneaky athletic? His athleticism should jump out to everyone right away when they watch him play.100%... It's reading the angles, offsetting, etc. It's just being a little extra heady. Remember how Cam was ALWAYS open and created space? Same vibe. It's just an ingrained understanding that most do not have. Couple that with having that quick of a release, being sneaky athletic, and everything else, and you have the makings of a really, really good player.
What on earth does that mean? How did Braylon replicate pressure packed free throws in his driveway?
