I was impressed with that dribble drive towards the end of the game.

Indeed, I think KML will start. She is versatile, can play inside and out, and is already a lot more than a good scorer. She can impact a game in a number of ways.

Perhaps as importantly, she's a legit 6'0". I just think UConn needs more size in the starting lineup, and KML can provide that.

A game high 25 minutes

A game high 25 points.

A game high 7 rebounds.

No wonder the box score reads, "23 Maya Moore."
I caught that too. Seems like whoever inputs the data is so used to seeing #23 with a 25 pts, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block stat line, they just assumed Maya was back for her 5th year. I think this may be a good omen:). Thought I'd capture it for posterity before it got corrected:

I know she was an extremely talented recruit coming out of high school but this was just one game. Anything can happen. But I am sure as heck hoping she turns into be the next #23

I am the meshugenner who insisted that Kaleena simply must become a starter. Which will happen soon. And once she starts, she stays.

I'm curious. Who do you remove from the starting lineup to insert KML?

If you think it is hard this year to move a starter to the bench to make room for KML ---- wait until next year when we add Stuart and Tuck to the available wings/forwards. And maybe Diamond the year after ????????

Scary.

KML Was awesome, but I am just as impressed with Kelly Faris. She didn't miss a shot.
3 for 3 from 2 1 for 1 from 3 and 2 for 2 from the line for 11 Points :)

I think Bria should come off the bench, and I'm not knocking Bria by saying that. She would play as many minutes as the starters.

However, a lineup of Caroline, Tiff, Kelly, KML, and Stef creates more matchup problems. Bria could come in and spell anyone not named Stef.

My guess is that by Tourney time 2013, the lineup is:

Caroline
KML
Kelly
Breanna
Stef

With a second unit of:

Kiah/Heather
Morgan/Heather
Banks
Bria
Moriah

That is going to be a terrifying lineup.

Scary, indeed!

Remember last year and other years, when the starters built nice leads and the bench surrendered part of them? With Kaleena, Brianna, and Kiah on the floor, that ain't happenin' this year.

How good is next year's group of newbies? The National High School Freshman of the Year. The highest ranked PG ever by HoopGurlz. As talented and competitive a recruit as UConn had ever had. Yikes! Our second unit will be a top 5 team!

Is this because she is their #2 or because she is rated a 98 ?

KML will take the minutes from..... who starts really does not matter it is those that play the most minutes that are considered the starters in my basketball world. Don't think of this as one vs another only as the methods and processes used to score more points than everyone we play. That is the end goal after all is it not?

I believe it is the 98, but they explicitly said she graded out higher than any other PG for as long as they have been doing this.

My guess is Bria, though Bria will continue to play starter's minutes. That swap makes UConn's lineup bigger and a bit more versatile. I also like KML and Tiff on the floor together more than Bria and Tiff. Bria can sub for Doty, KML, Kelly, or Tiff, so she'll still playing as many minutes as she does as a starter.

This to me isn't about KML being better at this point than any of the girls who are starting. I just like the starting lineup as a whole a little more with her in it.

You are not the only meshuggener who has been espousing this. A few dispassionate boarders have been advocating Kaleena as a starter. Question for you! Who does Kaleena replace in the current starting lineup?

I thought Doty because of her leg. But it looks like she play at least 25-30 minutes. She is the best point guard, period.

Kaleena can score better than Kelly and rebound at least the same. However, Kelly "scores" a lot of point off of steals by getting fast breaks going. Others may score the points but Kelly generate the opportunities. Kelly is the better defensive player.

Tiifany if she regresses? Bria? She is a scorer and would stop teams from doubling Kaleena.

Who do you say and why? Also when does she become a starter?

Bria is a scorer but she is short. Although there are games when she does a good job rebounding. Personally I think trading a strong 6' for 5'9" and more consistent rebounding is a good trade. Also I believe Kaleena is the better defender than Bria.
