I think TN will have the back line height this year to offset the loss hopefully of Mercedes Russell. It is all up to Holly to develop those players. WCBB all start out 0-0. Horston has her reasons for choosing TN.

Once again, and I say this every year, Holly shows she is a master recruiter. The best in the SEC and one of the best in the country. Her consistency at surrounding herself with some of the best talent the country has to offer is admirable, and Tenn should be congratulated.

The but here is, nothing changes for Tenn. Holly will still bring a loaded team to play every night that will play well against some of the better teams, play hard but play undisciplined in the offensive end, struggle against lesser teams, and lose before the quarters at the NCAA's. She will also fail to fully develop any of the talent she surrounds herself, and her teams will struggle to produce AA's and pro ready players. But also make no mistake, her teams will continue to define the adage, "On any night", and when UConn plays them prepare to be in a dogfight every game.

Man I would love to have their collection of guards/wings going forward. I’ve already signed off Jackson and Cooke to Tennessee now as well and if that happens, GOOD NIGHT... Holly Warlick is competent enough I think to not even screw that up.

Congrats to them. I am legitimately disappointed and jealous. Not sure what more Dawn can do to convince recruits.

First off, Jones is going to Stanford. Secondly, they play different positions. Jones is a 3/small 4 and Horston is a 2.
At UConn, Horston would be stuck behind Williams at the 2, and perhaps (my mouth to God's ears) Bueckers as well after next year. Plus, I think that these days her game is better suited to the 3.

My guess is that one of the reasons Jordan Horston did not pick UConn is that she knows Haley Jones is coming aboard. Their skill sets overlap substantiality.
Has nothing to do with that... Geno is the greatest but he has said time and time again recruiting is so much harder and so much more is involved ... players don’t want to be pushed as much... parents coaches are involved .. social media and all the hoopla and all that. UCONN is one of the very few programs that are very selective while other programs will recruit anyone and everyone. Sometimes it works out for Geno and sometimes it doesn’t. Woujd have loved to have gotten her but clearly she didn’t want to come to UCONN. Like I said table is turning and players are no going to other programs. Sometimes winning a national title isn’t always the most priority .. playing time and being the star is more appealing to a player. A lot of players are all about me mantality. Hate to say it but Notre Dame is the same as UCONN .. they run there programs very similar and usually recruit the same type of kids that buy into the team first mantality. Pat Summitt was Tennessee just like Geno is UCONN. Tennessee in the past several years has shown no consitancy or development... yes they get talent but never seem to gel... but UCONN will be UCONN and I’m shocked that Dawn hasn’t brought anyone in yet either...all I can say is Boston is the one player UCONN can’t afford to lose... a top 3 player and in our backyard would be a absolute stab in the heart. But the good thing about Jordan she didn’t follow any of her friends she played on the us team this summer like Brunelle is trying to do... she made up her mind and believed holly and Tennessee will develop her to the level she wants to be at. Apparently the lack of Tennessee Alums in the WNBA and national and Olympic teams wasn’t a major factor in her decision...

Maybe it was as simple as wanting to play with Cooke and Jackson and Tennessee was willing to take all three. Even Ohio State was starting to run out of room.

not all that surprising that Horston didn't chose UConn...........I never got the sense that she would be willing to work within the constraints of Geno's system.............if that was the case at least she could have chosen to learn under Dawn..................with Holly she'll have free reign to do anything she wants with the ball which is really not a good thing for her in the long run.........

I wish her well. And I hope the fans who are so partisan as to be nasty get what they deserve, whatever that is.

U may be right... all I can say is there is only so many minutes to go around... it’s all exciting when u committ and it should be.. but a lot can change when u get on campus and begin your season and it doesn’t go as u planned... that’s why Geno try’s not to overload ... but the positive thing is UCONN and Tennessee only has a 2 year series but hopefully if there competive then they will continue the series longer.

Nice of her to get the news out this AM (8:30 here ) and as I posted last night lots of errands today. To me she was a name out of the blue and I knew little of her. Live long and prosper Jordan.

Not sure why some consistently guess based on decisions yet to be made in future. At UConn, talent always determines playing time and there is certainly enough room for multiple players in same or similar positions. Even with two undefeated seasons the past two years and multiple All Americans, another top performer would have received significant playing time and received a lot of national attention.

Missing on Horston is one thing, she did not exactly strike me as a "UConn player" from day 1, but if my gut feeling is right and UConn misses out on 2 kids (Jones to Stanford and Boston to ND) that are the epitome of "UConn players", then we all should be nervous about the future of UConn women's basketball.

It’s interesting that various posters have this inclination to troll the BY about recruits they have a connection to, and now Mayafan1, on behalf of Horston, has come and gone.

Other than a lack of maturity or common sense, I’m not sure exactly why people do this. Surely their lives cannot be so shallow as to elevate such actions into some sort of Pyrrhic victory. I guess I must be getting too old to appreciate the juvenile nature of such pranks.

The writing was on the wall from the beginning that she was going to Tennessee! Just like it is for Boston going to ND, and Jones going to Stanford. The only place besides Tennessee that had a chance was OSU, so she could be closer to her mom.
you ate my words I believe Boston will end up at Notre Dame!!! She really is close with Brunelle and has played with her so much... Notre Dame joined the party late but will win out in the end. Losing Shepard and Turner will give Boston immediate impact and in my opinion could be a starter... Haley is very smart and will end up picking academics and staying home to be a easy brainer. UCONN lands 2 players in this recent class and may just end up signing a one person class for next year... UCONN recruiting is taking a hit and sadly u can’t stay on top with all the other elite programs bringing in classes like that. Sorry to be a Debbie downer but that’s just fact. As a recruit how can u not want to go to a program when I walk into gampel see all the all Americans and the best players to ever play the game on the wall of honor and all those national championship banners and not want to commit to the Huskies... not to mention ball tge success in the WNBA and Olympic and national teams... I just don’t get it. If I was a top recruit I woujd want to go to the best program and be coached by the greatest coach to ever coach men’s or women’s .. Im scratching my head and totally baffled.

feel badly for you guys........I understand why Horston wasn't willing to do what is needed at UConn but Dawn certainly has the background to teach Horston how to take advantage of her talents as a guard...........it's simply beyond me how JH could chose Tennessee over SC
