To be clear, I only follow the ESPN college basketball twitter. It comes up once a day. That's it. The 30 odd people I mentioned are part of college bball.

I realize that I've said this a few times in this thread and it's still not clear, which is my fault.

So, let me say once and for all what I am doing: ESPN has a twitter account for college basketball. I read it. There are about 20 pots every morning when I read them. Mostly by Katz, Frachilla, Dykes and several others.
Whether you want the complement or not I'm sticking with it. :)

You also have the option of pulling the giant bug out of your ass and stop being so uptight.

Hmmm, what could have elicited this response? Sorry if I offended your spiritual sensibilities.

I hope all of you have blessed day.

My goodness, I have a customer where I work who ALWAYS says,"have a blessed day".
She tries to convert me. I just smile and nod my head. In dealing with her, she really needs to practice what she preaches.

Anyway, she can't say,"have a good day"?

Sorry. Rant over.

Take the bug out of your arse.

I don't think it's a bug, more like a tarantula. :)

Rather have that than pushing my beliefs on everyone else.

I suspect she just has a better command of the English language than you do.

In that context, there is no religious intent - she's simply wishing you a nice day.

I'm sorry but if you're a professional who is using twitter on his employer's dime, keep your personal stuff out of it. If it's related to sports in any way (even tangentially) that's fine. But the guy is preaching about God on ESPN on every other post. I feel the same way about Jay Bilas quoting rap songs. Or Peter King writing about the best latte of the week. I hate this new trend. The fact that it's on twitter (as opposed to, say, an email) doesn't make it alright. You're still on the company dime.

Again, if it has to do with sports, you can get as personal and anecdotal as you possibly want. Although I can't stand Bill Simmons either, he actually manages to stay inside the line (though I know his analogies to pop culture are twisted, they are still attempts to talk about sports).
Seriously? Why isn't this just between him and ESPN. If it bothers you why wouldn't you just not follow him?

On a serious note though, how do you not laugh at Bilas's Jeezy tweets?

Though Bilas is the only sports guy I follow, at the very least I don't have to deal with his silliness when I want to read about sports. He's at least classy enough not to tie his brain damage to ESPN. He does it on his own time.

This all just makes you sound incredibly humorless. If you don't like Jimmy Dykes's tweets, don't read them. Just read the articles he posts. Ditto with all the other ones. These guys are personalities - that's what they get paid for - they're not AP wires in human form. They don't have twitter pages expressly to provide you with streamlined news, I assume ESPN or ESPN News has a dedicated twitter feed for that. They have these pages so they can interface with their readers directly and vomit out the **** that doesn't make its way into the columns they write.

I have a huge aversion to this kind of stuff.

I had a job interview once in Stillwater, OK. It was bad enough that my jaw dropped as we drove into town (I have a bad poker face), but when I got up for my first interview over breakfast, I was still shot from a late flight in the previous day. And the horrid campus hotel didn't help. Got my hot coffee, walked to the restaurant, and was greeted every frickin step of the way by blonde men and women with cheery hellos! I tried to leave a parking lot one day and the attendant wouldn't stop with insipid greetings. Oklahoma is so civilized and cheery that it feels like hell. Blonde people smiling at you like Stepford Wives.

As I wrote 10 times in this thread, I don't follow Dykes. I follow the ESPN news twitter feed. That's where the Dykes God quotes appear two or three times a day. Thanks for confirming that you believe such a thing should be reserved for sports news!

And what the does God's grace have to do with humor?! You blasphemer.

Um, you're welcome? I second the suggestion regarding the stick removal.

I wish that was the case! No, she wants me to find Jesus, she is a born again. She preaches to me.

Just look at it this way. It could be worse if she was into Satanic rituals.

I'm sure their feelings are hurt. Twitter is whatever u want it to be. How many people you choose to follow or what you Tweet is your choice. It is by far the single best personalized news feed there is.

All of the above is why I am not on Twitter
