I received a very nice note today with instructions to make sure it was passed along to those Boneyarders who were so generous in the Cardiac Center and Cancer Walk and Ride efforts. (Efforts that stand somewhere north of $43,000 as we speak...)

June 14, 2013

I really enjoyed meeting a great deal of you at the Ride and Walk.

My family, the UConn Health Center, and I truly appreciate your generous donation of over $40,000 to the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center.

As many of you know, most of the time I can find the words to express myself, however your collective gesture has moved me beyond words.

Thank you for all the support that you have given me over the years and more importantly, thank you for your thoughtful donation to an organization that is very near and dear to my heart.

My best,

Coach Jim Calhoun

I really never thought I would see Jim Calhoun communicate on The Boneyard. Very nice message, especially in the way that he initiated letting us know his appreciation of what we did. I feel that the whole effort has been a great success by our community to recognize and honor him.

I believe he has once before.

Fishy, how about scanning and posting the note?

Hmmn, exactly which of us did not enjoy meeting? Any guesses?

It wasn't an email? I thought 'note' was a figure of speech. Hand written would be cool.

Always dangerous to interpret Calhoun-speak, but I suspect that he pretty much liked meeting the Boneyarders who were there, but would have liked to punch-out the Taliek bashers such as UConn fans from Mass. Just a guess ;).......... right Mau?

I'm a Taliek man through and through. Always have been. Heart of a lion.

Must be why JC shook my hand three times and basically acknowledged that I raised the 40+k on my own. Thanks JC.

I think it is more likely that he was shaking your hand to keep you where he could see you so you didn't steal his wallet.

Thought had crossed my mind. All proceeds to charity of course.

Screw all of you.......you don't get into Sports Illustrated or on the map without me you duckks!!

And I was not a Taliek basher and if that was my label then I was FAR from the only one. "Heart of a lion"? Yep.........TO's that drove you nuts? Yep

He might actually be in my Top 10 UConn PG's though........close!!;)

Thread with Jim Calhoun praising the Boneyard becomes a Taliek debate. Too funny. The force is still strong in that one.

NB:Who wants to get on Sports Illustrated cover anyways? Things definitely cursed, all empirical evidence aside.

Everyone get invited to that closed practice at Gampel in October (with a pizza party at the end)? If so is anyone going?

btw, haven't given up on my whale. Donation period runs through August, so if you have any more leads, get after them.

Yes, I got it today. I'll have to wait to see when it is and how it fits into my busy social calendar, but I plan to go barring something unforeseen. I'm sure jleves will fly in from CA again to participate...right, Jim? (just kidding). Should be very fun to watch the practice.

Jim drove by the house, dropped the window of the Bentley and said, "Yo....pizza, practice, October."

Then, he did a donut in my front yard, knocked down my mailbox and sped off.

I'll probably go. Maybe some of you lightweights will go out for a beer after.
