Separately, with Pandolfo now hired at BU, they will go after Joe Pereira to take the associate job. Mike McMahon's newsletter last night:
"According to sources, UConn associate head coach and BU alum Joe Pereira is a strong favorite to fill out Pandolfo’s coaching staff if he gets the job."
I would not take that as a done deal. I've heard separately that Joe loves working at UConn and living in CT.
If Pereira leaves does that job go to Helton or does Cav look elsewhere? Helton has been with the program for four years. Joe certainly had a lot more experience before he was named as associate HC. Or does he bring in another assistant and just not name either as AHC yet? That BC job had a lot of internal strife. Alums were pushing HARD for Greg Brown but administrative officials pushed hard on Leaman.
My complete guess is Leaman may have removed himself from consideration given the alumni backlash and instead resigned with PC.

Good comments and very intelligent take. Those were the only 2 it was ever gonna be. A proven head coach like Leaman who was closing in on 400 wins at 2 different D-1 schools but with no BC ties. Kinda like York, who was over 400 wins, before he came home and actually was a BC Alum. That BC job had a lot of internal strife. Alums were pushing HARD for Greg Brown but administrative officials pushed hard on Leaman.

Well as you posted b4, I've heard from actual BC players and teammates, there was no way Cav was getting the BC job and that's exactly what happened. Just like I posted B4 Leaman was even mentioned(in tweets) in another thread. It was gonna be either a coach with a proven winning track record (Leaman ) or a BC player, coach and grad ( Brown). Despite what Connelly wrote and even he clarfied later there was no offer ever made to Cav.I've heard separately as well that BC's #1 target was Cav. Don't know the specifics but I think it's clear he'd have the job there now if he wanted it.
Mike McMahon's newsletter this morning indicates Pereira to BU is close to a done deal. I've heard nothing from my connections within BU on that. But Mike indicated UConn is already reaching out to potential backfill candidates.
The newsletter goes on to cite Albie O'Connell as a potential replacement for Pereira at UConn. He's as good of a talent evaluator and recruiter as there is and also a fantastic person. Just don't let him coach Xs and Os and you'll have a strong addition to the program.
This is just semantics. If Cav wanted the job he wouldn't still be at UConn.Despite what Connelly wrote and even he clarfied later there was no offer ever made to Cav.
Well you keep believing that if it makes you feel better. This is just semantics. If Cav wanted the job he wouldn't still be at UConn.
My source is better than yours.Well as you posted b4, I've heard from actual BC players and teammates, there was no way Cav was getting the BC job and that's exactly what happened. But this guy here knows a guy, Frosty. Cav is literally the anti-Edsall. The program builder that believes in the project. My source is better than yours.
