Jeff Jacobs: UConn basketball has hit rock bottom

Rock bottom is pre Jim Calhoun, watching us lose to UHART in the Civic Center. Jacobs is an ambulance chaser who thrives on dumping on UCONN and had a one man feud with Jim Calhoun.

How many times do you think you need to write that to communicate your point? Three? Four? Do you think you're being clever? Do you think you're uncovering some ruse I'm perpetrating? You're Geraldo Rivera breaking into the safe - there's nothing there for you. If you don't like my posts, why not just put me on ignore? Why so desperate to try to draw the attention of others to me? Everyone has gotten your point. How many times do you think you need to make it to be understood?

Why do you think you speak for "the rest of us"? Lot of people on this site hate your @$$.

I don't "create" new accounts because knobs like you are "tired." I get bored, burn the password, restart 1/2 year later. Or so. I could give 2 craps less what you think.

As simply as I can put it - - - I'm happy we lost because the sooner we get Ollie out of here the sooner we can start rebuilding. It's really that simple. The leg has gangrene. I'm advocating cutting the leg off, staunching the flow of blow, sewing up the skin, and starting again with a stump and a prosthetic. You, OTOH, are advocating attempting to treat the gangrene as it persists in infecting the rest of the body. Because you've conflated love of the leg with love of the body. Wrong.

Ollie is cancer. Get rid of him. Him losing helps that. There is no way he will win consistently. Him winning in the short term is fool's gold.

Your gold, as it were, you tool.
A complete BS reply
As far as I'm concerned if you feel this way, you are the disease
You can hope for any coach to be relieved of his/her duties but to refer to someone who bleeds UConn as that horrible disease ?
I do not care if KO stays or KO goes, but I respect and hold the man in very high regard for his contributions to the UConn family.
You are not what I would even consider to be a "casual" fan - only an agitator - less than a tool
Anyone who wishes the team they supposedly follows to lose - speaks volumes of where that persons head is at - time for you to pull it out of the hole
As far as burning passwords - do us all a favor and just stay out
You and others - who have replied, liked your crap on here and use every thread to twist it with an anti KO statement make the Boneyard a depressing place (stealing that one Mau!)

Lol don't pretend you're some sort of neutral observer. Youre king of the Ollie fan club. You have gone after and attacked people who disagree with you for the better part of a year now.

Losing to UHar wasn't pre-Jim Calhoun, it was Jim Calhoun.

Not defending the poster here but I think you may want to take your own advice: Don't Forget What Crap is On The Bubble

One of the few examples that I can think of where I snapped on a regular boneyard poster and you were "gracious" enough to call me out on it. Never mind that you undress people like an emotional wreck in 80% of your posts.

This might be the first time ever that I hope Jacobs is right about something.... I truly hope this is rock bottom and that it doesn't get any worse.

I would love to see Geno take over but I'm not sure he'd want the headache. I think he'd be a fantastic men's coach though, I love his blunt and honest style and the man knows the game as well as anyone.

I don't think there's any chance Calhoun comes back but why would we want to go down that road anyway? Recruiting would be a bear, trying to sell kids on a fading program that has an old-timer in place for only a year or two? And the last JC succession plan didn't exactly turn out well.

The only way Calhoun works is if we name a head coach in waiting right away. I still don't think that's even a good idea though

Well, I haven't watched a game in some time. Waiting on Ollue getting fired and all.
Happy to see us lose so miserably. The worse, the better. I'm hoping we get invited to the Class L invitation in Hartford and get beat by Weaver or East Hartford. By 50.

Whatever it takes to convince the powers to Shoo Ollue, that's what I want. Making a run in the AAC tourni would have been a disaster.

For those who say that means i'm not a fan, wrongo, boyo. It means I'm not a short sighted fan.

Kill this. Remove the carcass. Disinfect the area. Start again.
IGNORE is your friend... Took me a minute to figure out that something in this thread was missing. Well not "missing", really.

Ironic that I've been part of this community for two decades and this is the first person I ever felt deserved an ignore. Impressive accomplishment!

Yeah, pretty much. Anyone that says "I don't care if KO stays or goes"... I don't even know how to respond to that.

And for anyone confused, the Boneyard is a depressing place because of the status of the men's basketball program.

I don't care if Ollie stays or goes.

Both scenarios are fraught with unknowns and danger. Why should I prefer a firing squad over a lethal injection?

Both scenarios potentially present possible future success. But not guaranteed in either case.

I don't disagree with that but I would prefer a new face. Tired of watching bad, losing and uninspired basketball. New blood may bring some fire back to the program.

Nothing is guaranteed but at least with Ollie gone there is reason for optimism. I don't know how anyone could be optimistic for the future if Ollie is back

I mean there are a lot of pieces to that puzzle, arent there?

Optimism on change can only come with the right coaching hire.

would Tom Crean make you optimistic? Not me.

Danny Hurley? I'm skeptical. Doesnt stir my loins really at all at the thought of him here. Is he a great coach or is it that hes just not KO?

I will get on board with your optimism when I see the replacement coaching hire.

I don't want Crean because of Creans Memes but I don't think he's as bad as Ollie. I'd feel much better about next year if he were the coach

Oh please.

Crean would be a TERRIBLE hire for this program. If that is the best we can do then its stupid to buy Ollie out right now because we will be replacing Crean in 5 years or less.

Hurley while Im not really enthralled by the notion would be a better in that at least we dont know what he can do at a major program and maybe we catch some lightning in a bottle with a long term program builder. We have a large enough sample size on Tom Crean. Thanks, but no thanks.

The same could have been same mid 1980's?

Jim Calhoun? I'm skeptical. Doesn't stir my loins really at all at the thought of him here. Is he a great coach or is it that he's just not Dom Perno?

I was where you are. Not anymore. I no longer think success is even possible as long as Ollie is the coach. I heard him say last year almost exactly what he said yesterday. He needs to re-evaluate himself and what he does and how he coaches etc. This is what he came up with? He doubled down on exactly the things he has to change. Why would be believe he could recognize it now? I have 100% confidence that he won't think the things that need to change need to change, because what needs to change is his entire philosophy on how to play basketball.

Yup it couldve. Read on, Skyball

Our basketball program desperately needs a new leader. We’ve lost hope. And there’s nothing worse than that. We felt it before. Ollie is Dom Perno. Both were former players, bleeding blue. Keeping Perno would have been a mistake and this time it’s even worse. We hadn’t been to the top of the mountain when we fired Perno. We took a chance on Calhoun. Now the stakes are higher, it’s about the viability and reputation of UConn Basketball. We can’t afford to wait. We need to find the money and make the change. Benedict will figure it out and he’ll pull the trigger. Ollie will be gone. Some will feel remorse but not for long as we’ll have lots of better coaches interested in restoring UConn’s greatness.

Tom Crean doesn’t get his due credit. He resurrected Indiana basketball from the pit and they’ve been terrible since he’s left.

Terrible since he left? This is the first season without him.

If he resurrected Indiana basketball, why isnt he still there?

He's not the guy I want, but his "failure" at Indiana is greatly exaggerated. He'd be a significant upgrade over Ollie.
