Jeff Goodwin's Big East update

Again, Georgetown had a NPOY in 2013 and was the #1 team in the country at a point that year.

I’m not sure where the 20 years come from. They were relevant all the way up until the Big East blew up. Pretty much every Big East power has faltered, including us, since then.
Seems like you may have missed a few of these...

That’s correct and my mistake. Like you said he was still a consensus AA so the point still stands.

Pretty much no Big East powerhouse went through the conference breakup unscathed.
You’re kidding right? It was a blessing for most of the Catholics. St John’s, PC, and the rest couldn’t sniff the tournament in the later Big East days. After the breakup they suddenly had a chance. They were THRILLED not to have to play UConn, Syracuse, West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville, some multiple time, every year.

World is changing my man - and it's changing fast. The Big10 has 2 of the top 4 teams in the country this year, and the best conference this year. This is not 2018, it's 2025.

Gonzaga can do it because they have a genius at head coach - the Few's are few (get it) and far between.

Did you not see how scratch the Elite 8 was last year? It's going to look more and more like football. The mid majors and low high majors will be minor league systems for the real high majors.
Yet Gonzaga got clobbered by Michigan…game was not even remotely close sorta like our ‘24 march madness beat downs

Reading comprehension is hard
Help me out. We have won half of our championships since the Big East blew up in 2012. Maybe I'm having trouble comprehending your use of the word "faltered"?

I think he's referencing the last 2 Ollie years. But it was definitely a short lived downturn. Not like Georgetown's or St. John's.

Those last 2 years felt like 20 though. Getting blown out by 30 every other week was rough...
Ollie's last season....I mean grossssssssss. Barely beating powerhouses Stony Brook, Monmouth, and Columbia at home, getting boat raced by Arkansas, Mich St, Auburn, Arizona, etc. Then being Nova's and Houston's whipping boy in conference, along with Wichita St and Temple?! Definitely do not miss those years.

Going to shoot Shaka some bail. One thing about not using the portal are these years where your teams may be super young.

Out of the top 7 players getting double digit minutes for Marquette 4 of them are underclassmen.

Only two players (Chase Ross and Ben Gold) are Seniors. This may be one of those rebuilding years for them as they wait for their sophomore class to grow up.
Shaka’s strategy is idiotic. His best player on his good times was a transfer (kolik). He is the dabo sweeney of college basketball

St John’s was never good. But teams like Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, etc. have all had their share of down moments.
