Do you realize how tough it is to come into a game and try to produce in just 4–5 minutes? And even when he played well in the first half, there were times you wouldn’t see him at all in the second. That’s a hard rhythm to adjust to.
He handled it as well as you could ask, and Hurley even gave him credit for that. This is a guy who can really play if he gets consistent minutes and not just sitting behind someone.
Maybe take another look before judging.

Stewart seems like a great kid, but some boneyarders make it out that he is a great player. He had his chances and did not show he could drive to the hoop and score and was an average rebounder. He is a good shooter. I wish him nothing but the best

He’s not a UConn caliber player. It is what it is. The histrionics over this are crazy to me. It’s also not like he hasn’t had his chances either. He was pushed into big minutes several times due to injury and simply never played well enough to hold onto those minutes.

You might have two eyes, but doesnt mean you evaluated properly. In extended minutes kid has been good. Rugged 3/4 style player. I think he’s a good player and has a decent offensive game. I would expect high major team grabs him. saying he isn’t a UConn caliber player is ridiculous.

Yeah that’s fair, and I think most people would agree he didn’t fully put it all together here. At the same time, it’s tough to judge a guy off limited, inconsistent minutes especially when it’s hard to get into any kind of rhythm.
He definitely showed flashes though, and like you said, the shooting is real. Sometimes a bigger role and more consistent run makes a big difference for a player like him.
Either way, hard not to root for the kid. Hope he lands somewhere he can really show what he’s got.

He's definitely a UConn caliber player.

I can tell because he just spent the past three years playing for UConn.

He's an excellent rotation guy and I would have loved to have had him back, but for whatever reason, perhaps he wanted more of a role than Dan Hurley could offer him.

He's not going to be a superstar at his next stop, but he can definitely help a good team.

stewart is a legitimate D1 ballplayer who never got consistent minutes because of nba players ahead of him ( liam and mullins) . In today’s transactional world he should have left last year to maybe A10 got 28 minutes a night averaged 14-15 then got a decent bag to transfer to a mid to low p5 school. i hope he has a great last year !!

Although the numbers on the back of the card weren’t anything either he or us were expecting. But as a teammate and ambassador for the program he was as good as one could be. The outpouring on this thread proves the parents and family have themselves a hell of a young man. Hope he doesn’t just kill it at his next stop but wherever he goes after basketball is finished. Likable is an understatement with JStew.

it looked like he was odd man out based on other moves we’re making , like Hurley I love to keep everyone but that’s being selfish.
He has a ring , actually started quite a few games but for some reason didn’t develop as fast or as far as some of us hoped me included.
Although seasons are unpredictable it didn’t look like there were going to be enough minutes to give him a substantial role next year so he is going some place where he hopefully can play.

I sincerely thank him for all his hard work and wish him the best and keeping working .
Once a Huskie he is a Huskie forever , No one should ever disrespect a basketball player who leaves for the right reason , because he wants to play more basketball than we could promise him

Listen to this interview, especially around the 10:30 time frame and tell me that this is not about Stewie and his loyalty. Transferring out now is a business on both ends, especially with someone like Stewie. He's not doing it for the $ or else he would of been gone last year. This is a buisness discussion on his part and future for his last year as a senior. I could only imagine what it was like in Hurleys office with them two. A difficult separation for sure. That's loyalty.

And he did not abandon us either. For some on here they think he did. Unlike like ER for 1 year. Nicely said AZ

These two sum up where I am with this. Stew seemed like a great teammate, and gave us fans several games where he was a legit difference in win or lose.
Talent-wise he wasn’t going to get 25mpg consistently. A selfish kid would have left after his freshman or sophomore year. Stew stuck around and us fans appreciate it.
Now, with no obvious path to the NBA if he stayed at UConn, spread your wings, get your money, and land at a spot where you can shine your brightest.

This is one of those situations where I'd obviously want Jaylin to stick around, but I totally see why he wants to shop around for a chance to make an impact as a full-time starter and I honestly wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.

Personally, I think it would be sick to see him team up with Luke Murray at BC and have a monster year. Unlike some on here, I do not feel a strong sense of schadenfreude towards BC, so it would really be fun to see that pairing succeed.

NK has a higher ceiling than Jaylin....but I hate saying that because man...stew has given so much of his life to this team. husky forever.

Stewart has a lot of natural raw talent. Hasn't been able to translate that to game performance so far. Good luck to him

If you wanted to rate a player by "key baskets per minutes played", Stewie would be among the best. His injury this year was unfortunate, because all we needed in this year's final game was another key trey, his specialty. That said, I do think he was given a chance to shine at UConn, and that, perhaps, was a bit unfair to ask . He didn't just have to be good; he had to shine. It was asking a lot. Wish him the best.
