Jayden Ross Returning!!!

I'll admit that I'm probably over-correcting and Ross plays, I just don't see an 11 man rotation happening and don't see anyone else being forced out of the rotation before him.

But there is literally 0 chance of Ross starting, that is crazy
I’m skeptical he develops enough offensive skill this offseason to compete for minutes that way but he has a unique defensive upside amongst the bench guys. They clearly have to work on some of his technique and decision making but I don’t have to squint that hard to see him becoming a defensive stopper and carving out a role that way.

But yes, barring a truly insane level of development, the idea of him starting is a bit crazy.

Yeah that's my holdup, I'm just not sure what role he's able to carve out. If he's able to get a passable 3 point shot and fix his defense that's a valuable bench piece. But I'm just not sure what the path to that is when he was statistically our worst offensive player and worst defensive player on the worst team we've had the last 5 seasons

Appreciate the loyalty from Ross and Stewart, up to them to play starting quality on a top 5 team if they want that role. Glad we brought in Mullins, one of these guys is hopefully up to being that great 5th starter we need.

I’ve no idea what his role might but, but glad he’s back. Guys with time in the system > guys who don’t.

I saw that his brother decommitted from Minnesota last week. (Three star player, before some nitwits decide we need an extra Ross.)

Minutes will be hard to come by. Lots of competition at all spots except point guard.

It won’t be Ross. Stewart is a starter presently @ the 4. Ross is backup. Mullins to start at the 3.

Depending on how the portal shakes out I’m willing to take wagers on Ross starting.

If we don’t bring in a transfer at his position he'll start. We arent starting an undersized freshman (for thr 3) or a lowly ranked one at a position we need size and defense at.

And Ross will end up just fine offensively in large part because he will have a bigger role and more rope and the confidence of being one of the upperclassman leaders.

Enough with the wagers lol. I will outright say he won’t start no matter how the portal works out. If you’re right, I look stupid!
He won’t start but right now he could be the first forward off the bench.

I will bet any amount of money. Ross will get more playing time than Furphy and another bet that Furphy won’t play lol.

Very happy to get Ross back!
I am very happy that Ross is staying. It speaks volumes about his character. But Furphy will get playing time and he will surprise, tough kid, can shoot and very good IQ.

I just want to know if you guys actually believe this stuff half the time to be so down on a player or if you just dig your heels in because it’s my opinion lol

Like the he’s a bad defender rhetoric has been debunked by film outside of myself but people continue on with this lie for reasons I don’t understand.

Ross needs to be a consistent 3 and D guy off the bench. Glad he’s back I am hoping for improvement.

And the strays Furphy is catching is crazy.

I like this move for him and us. It’s a ballsy move. He obviously thinks he has more in him than he’s been able to show. I’m sure he’s expecting a bigger role next year and realizes who he’ll be competing with for those minutes.

I’ll believe a non one and done freshmen will beat out an upperclassmen for minutes in this program when I see it.

Good news. Continuity is an important piece in the wild west transfer world. An added bonus is the people who actively root for Hurley to fail won’t be able to spin this into a negative(who am I kidding? Of course they will).

It has nothing to do with how good Furphy is or is not. Freshmen simply don’t play over upperclassmen here unless they are suppose to be going to the NBA.

Thinking that’s going to change for a low ranked possible hidden gem from overseas is actually insane. It’s hilarious to see what this board can talk themselves into sometimes ignoring clear patterns of how things work lol

Who is this lowly ranked one? Furphy? I wouldn’t call him lowly ranked as he has been playing and doing well in the NBA Global Academy.

He's not really playing for NBA Global Academy. It's not some team he's traveling with all season that has the best Australian players. He plays for his Tasmanian team. His competition level has been low, which is why he's a tough scout for evaluators out there.

What really matters is Hurley believes in Ross and Ross in Hurley. The kid will show his naysayers in here. You know how it goes in the boneyard, instant gratification....

He has a lot of tools to be good for us. Some of the moments so far have been very good. Just need more and more consistently.

I truly hate posts like this. So a coach who won two championships in the last three years isn’t enough for you? You need one who also will never once make a personnel decision that is later regretted?
If you listen to the Dan Patrick interview, Hurley is still pissed about not being a stronger contender this year. I doubt he is sacrificing anything for sentimentality reasons.
