2020 Recruiting: Javonte Brown-Ferguson Announcement Date

curious how did you get those numbers?

you can't add Javonte Brown Ferguson using the 2020 calculator yet since he hasnt reclassified. I used LJ Cryer as a placeholder (#88 in 2020 because Javonte Brown Ferguson is #88 in 2021 even though he will probably fall a few spots after reclassifying). Jackson + Cryer = Team Score of 48.44 which would be #33 for 2020.

But assuming this ends up being a 2 recruit class (juco transfers and/or grad-transfers arent factored into the Team Scores), all the other schools will eventually fill out their rosters causing our ranking to fall. A score of 48.44 would have ranked #48 in 2019. Still very solid for a 2 recruit class.

Our 2019 class was #19, with 4 freshmen recruits, there's just no way we can match that with only 2.
Ranking recruiting classes is silly. I see ours as a four man class now anyway: Andre, Springs, Cole, and hopefully Javonte Brown Ferguson. And though it might not be top 20 it's four very good players who can contribute to winning basketball games. To be honest, what we are missing is the one big chip to put us over the top. Still holding out hope for Cam or Cliff in the Spring.

I grabbed him and his numbers to our 21 class then transferred those numbers to our 20 class. You can't add him to the 20 class but you can add him to the 21 class then take that number and add it to our 20 class w AJ to calc.

100% we aren't staying there.

No, you can't do that. Only the top recruit in the class gets full value, each successive recruit gets a lower and lower percentage of their score. So adding two one-recruit classes together won't work. What you can do is find the 2020 with the most similar score and add that player in 2020 and you'll get a pretty accurate picture.

He said A&M coaches were confident up until late last week and thought they were getting a commitment. Not very confident this week.

Damn it feels good to potentially be on the other side of this.

Just a good thing to keep in mind: Insiders are only as good as the truth that their sources are getting. Their truth might not be the real truth. And it's not their fault if it's not.

I still am predicting A&M, the two week gap between his OV and announcement combined with Coach Hunter's untimely absence concerns me. Hope I'm wrong.

Has do be degrading to see A&M struggle to beat UL Monroe at home in front of maybe 3k people. Kansas just picked up a commitment today, Bryce Thompson but that probably doesn’t mean much because it is considered that they’re out of this

Great post! Based on nothing more than him not announcing his decision soon enough for your comfort, you assume he is going to Texas A&M, a school that you could be forgiven for forgetting has a basketball program.
Forget reading into more relevant evidence, like him literally ending his recruitment after visiting Uconn or Kansas, a school that gets almost any kid it wants, moving on to other prospects.

P.S. Still DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.

I never understood the concept of "leading" when it comes to recruiting.

That's like saying the heads "leads" while the coin is in the air.

No it's not. 1) It's not a 50/50 weighted decision and 2) It's not random.

It means he's still considering both (or more schools), but if was forced to choose immediately , he's take UConn. That said, A&M has the opportunity to regain his favor with the right pitch.

It's not that difficult.

Think of it like it's a weighted coin (say 60/40) being flipped, but you don't know whether heads or tails has it weighted in its favor (or how heavy the weight usually). Either way, you have a decent chance of losing. But if it's reported that we're leading, that means we're the ones with the weight in our favor on the flip.

Or like momentarily having thought you might get a Shih Tzu instead of a Husky, but now the Husky is back in the lead

Does anyone have footage on Javonte Brown? Other than just the old video on youtube.

Agree in theory. But anyone that claims they know what the kid is thinking is likely making a lot of assumptions.
