People always say this but is there tangible proof of this in the past? I don’t actually remember an example. Luckily we have had mostly healthy squads in the last few title-winning seasons.

Do you think if Hopkins came back and PC got hot, the committee would disregard the rest of the season?
That's an entirely different scenario. If Hopkins came back at the end of last season I think they would've been put in the tournament.

Different sure, but you only have so many games to prove yourself. We haven’t been amazing enough with Liam to move the needle that much, yet. February is big.

I watched the entire Kentucky/Bama game. I think Bama is going back to the Final Four again this year. In the game Bama had zero shot attempts other than in the paint or behind the 3 point line. I know they are noted for this but the team wide discipline to adhere to it was impressive. There were more than a few instances when a Bama player had an open look from 10-12 feet outside of the paint and they turned them all down. I guess they know they will be benched if they attempt one of those shots.

UK has one of the softest defenses in the SEC. This was a matchup of almost identical styles, as Pope preaches same stuff, and Bama has the better roster.

I am with you though in that Bama is primed for a run. Oates can coach, they have depth and versatile pieces.

Hurley always said we had to win as much as possible with him gone so we all knew there would be losses in this period. When will he be back thats the question?

Sounds like he’s GTD tomorrow with better chance of playing vs Xavier

We are undefeated with Laim on the mainland. I think that’s pretty amazing. Including sweeping a pretty solid noncon slate.

For the Bart Torvik lovers in the house. There is one specifically I can likely flag 50 laughing faces to because I school him every time ;)

Not sure what this has to do with my post about the committee looking at injuries, but cool. I think that seed will change when we get McNeeley back and start to rack up good wins in the back half of the Big East schedule

This isnt our fault, we tried to schedule good, but if you actually take a look at it as it stands today, our non-con slate was mediocre. Our 2 "best" wins Baylor and Gonzaga have fallen off a cliff. Texas on the road may end up being the best win, and they arent exactly lighting the world on fire. Not to mention the Maui debacle is looking worse that it already is with Dayton going in the dumpster in the A10 and Colorado being even worse that we already knew.

Our tourney resume is really weak. It pains me to say it, but as of today we arent a tournament lock. I think we will absolutely make the tournament, but there does exist a plausible scenario where things could go very bad. The next couple weeks leading up to Valentines day could be a real bad time. Xavier, Marquette, Creighton on the road and St. Johns at home. We have to find a way to split those. Have to.

At Xavier without McNeeley feels a bit unlikely. We never win at Creighton. Marquette on the road is likely without McNeeley or it's his first game back. Need to win our home games against Johnnies and Marquette. Our away game against the Johnnies is when Liam should be back and at full strength and we're hopefully humming at that point.

To further compound Cal's issues, Boogie Fland now out for the remainder of the year with a hand injury. He's been arguably their best player. Things looking bleak in Fayetville.
