I know, Texas just annoys me. So much talent, so little structure.
Believe me I know. I was there sitting in the stands for that game when UConn got run off the floor and the Dayton fans were going nuts while were quiet as we were stunned and in disappointment.
Dayton player Iowa State tough in Maui as well. Right now, Dayton is teetering and it makes UConn and Marquette look bad.

No Comments on Kansas getting thumped by 17 at Iowa State? Jayhawks just aren't that good. I think Self is learning some lessons about transfers. Meanwhile Iowa State is #2 and looks like they have a real shot at a #1 seed.

Kansas’ lack of perimeter shooting has been a pretty glaring weakness this season. I’m sure Self did not expect Dickinson and Storr to just fall off a cliff in that regard. Makes it far too easy to collapse on Dickinson in the paint. Griffen is a good shooter off their bench but definitely a weaker point defensively. They need some of these guys to pick up their shooting quickly.

There is something off with Self and the Portal - gets guys and then just socks them to the bench. He has no idea how to assimilate them. Then there's Barnes who takes them and makes them his centerpiece, successfully. This evaluation clearly is more of an art than a science.
Right now it feels like the all portal team to date is:
Haggerty - Memphis
Lanier - Tennessee
UK team
Seems the trend that works is taking rising players from mid majors or low end high, or out of highs that currently have a bad coach/system (ie Reed). Guys like Griffen and Storr are available for a reason.

This UConn team is also very good at 2 and 3 on this list too, even if they're not elite. The only weak spot is free throw rate, and we've already seen that's not a detrimental factor the last 2 years

We're probably the best passing team in the country, we make our shots and we make our free throws.
We have the #3 most efficient offense in the country, it's exactly where the UConn offense was last season. Defense is where we need to improve. Kansas has the #100 most efficient offense in the country.

Transition defense can be a bit of a noisy stat that's buffed up by 3-point variance, especially against buy-game competition in non-conference play, but there are 11 teams that rate in the top-30 in fewest transition points per game allowed while also securing over 34% of its misses.

I was never really impressed with the guy going back to his days at St. John's. He had a horrible first round game last year vs James Madison. Look at his stat here:

Storr is deceiving because there are times his on ball dribble drive can be effective and flashy, especially at 6’7”. The problem is he doesn’t pass(less than 1 assist per game over his career), he can’t shoot(shooting 29% from 3 this year) and he doesn’t play defense. Memphis v Temple second half has been quite good. Temple's arena is quite loud and they're not a bad team. Would like to see Temple get back near the top of the sport. Frankly if not Dayton, I'd love to see Temple replace us in the Big East when we move up

Early Karaban foul trouble then he came into the 2nd half ice cold, McNeeley hadn't emerged yet. Couldn't stop fouling or defend their big. Colorado made 56% of its threes on the soft Maui rims.
