January General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

I'm going to be perfectly honest here without mocking you. Your schtick is getting very old. Just because someone says something negative about a Big East team doesn't mean they're saying the Big East is terrible. Just stop already. Please!
Defensive people are annoying - open your mind, listen to the other side, process it, understand it vs the auto response or going out of your way seeking some counter that is loaded with bias.

This is serious? You have been as defensive about UM as Nelson has about the BE but at least that’s our conference and not a competitor

Lol - you think I'm defensive about UM? Lololololololololol. You realize I care less about UM, right? They could lose every game here on out and I would not care. I simply recognize that they are really, really good and some people don't like to recognize anyone is really good other than Uconn here. If anything, I'm offensive around her, lol.

I am not going to lie, Michigan is damn good. Right now, Michigan looks like the #1 team and a juggernaut. But just like how UConn will be the Super Bowl of other Big East teams, and have some tough games because of it, Michigan will be the Super Bowl of other B1G teams and have some tough games because of it. A lot can change between now and March. I don't think UConn has reached close to their peak and they have an impressive OOC resume despite not being close to their peak.

When I see Eliot Cadeau making 3s every time his defender goes under the ball screen, I start thinking "yikes". He could not shoot worth damn last year. When Cadeau is doing that it just makes it that much harder to defend against Michigan because he is already a good passer and dribble penetrator. From what another poster on the Boneyard said, Dusty May found out where Eliot was successful making 3 pointers in high school and simply has him only taking 3s in those spots (straight away and not too far to either side of the court).

When I see that Cade Tyson is doing well in Minnesota. Look at his stats now in Minnesota vs last year when he was on UNC.

I like Hubert and he seems like one of the good guys in the coaching game, but seeing Eliot Cadeau and Cade Tyson play much better after they leave North Carolina does not make Hubert look great.

Every time you whip out that disgusting strawman of “fans here don’t like admitting anyone else is good”, i take you less and less serious. You have no evidence of this outside of people being annoyed with your UM obsession. And even then I’ve heard no one, not one poster, say they aren’t good. You couldn’t be less self aware.

When I see that Cade Tyson is doing well in Minnesota, it makes me question Hubert Davis some. Look at his stats now in Minnesota vs last year when he was on UNC.

Hubert is a decent coach, but he's not great and should never have come close to a job like UNC.

No, it doesn't. I don't sense Hubie is much of a motivator/developer. His best bet is to bring in studs out of other programs or ridiculously top frosh.

Many here were down on Cadeau, but he is such a good fit for that UM team and found his identity in it. He's a talented kid that needed the right fit/leadership.

It's more a "resistance" to recognizing anyone else is good. I'm honestly not obsessed - other than being totally geeked up at the possibility of us going toe to toe in the NC against them at 38-0 and 37-1 in a heavyweight fight. I will never pull for a football school in hoops. I came on here saying UM is really talented after Vegas, and lot's of response as to why they aren't that good. But Wake Forest.... Where it's like, did you actually watch them play?

Can you acknowledge that this only happens when you bring up UM because posters may be tired of hearing you talk about UM? 75% of the boneyard pumped up St John’s all off season. This idea that UConn fans don’t think anyone but UConn is good is false.

After Vegas some just didn’t think they were clearly the best team. Not that they weren’t good. No one has ever said they weren’t good. You have just went into full cape mode anytime someone suggest UConn is just as “talented” or “good”. Which baffles me figuring you’re on a UConn fan board.

And you have proudly flex over your call on StJ.

Now I'm proudly flexing to my call on UM. Spank you very much.

You think Michigan and UConn are going to face each other in the national championship game with 38-0 and 37-1 records?

Which isn’t the issue. Just stop lying to prove that point. We all acknowledge other teams are good.

A boy can dream, can't he?

I do think if Uconn won out they'd be closer to 38-1.

The funniest part of all of this is he's flexing about being right about Michigan when a week before Vegas he said they weren't a national championship contender. He realized they were good at the same time as everyone else here

I didn’t offer a bet, you asked for a bet. I replied with a counter. Your weak game might work with the idiots you normally hang out with, but I pick my bets, not you.
Say what now?? Your exact words were that your money was on a belief that Patterson would be out of the league by his 3rd year. Someone tried to take you up on that by saying they would accept the bet and then you tried to change the terms. Are you saying you don’t remember that???

You are a real beauty

If someone mentions Michigan without blowing sufficient smoke up their arses you swoop in like Batman responding to the bat signal. When you’re not defending them you’re posting a tweet or link about how good they are. You posted about Michigan 15x one day last week, no exaggeration . Your lack of self awareness is astounding.

No team has won the championship with less than 2 losses since the 1975 Indiana team. I don't expect that to change this year.
I don't expect ancient history to be a dictator of outcomes during the portal/NIL era. These programs can build superteams in this era. May took the best mid major player, a McD AA PG from UNC, a 7'3" rim protector from UCLA. You couldn't do that for most of 1976 onward. I don't think UM or UConn holds to those records, but I don't think it's impossible. Right now UM looks like they can just overpower a lot of teams. Uconn looks like they can outexecute and out depth teams.

Are you not at all interested in learning about a team to beat? Or would you prefer to live in a Uconn vacuum?

That’s besides the point but I’ve watched several of their games and am sure I’ll watch several more this season. I’ll happily read the Michigan scouting report from @Hey Adrien! and other analyses the week of the final4/championship IF we even play them. But No one wants or needs to be beaten over the head with Michigan propaganda by you for 4 months

Chances are that streak will continue, but I also feel like there’s a distinct possibility for UConn to do it this year. And better chance than Michigan has because they’ll be challenged harder throughout the rest of the regular season. That being said, I also thought there was no chance we would lose at Seton Hall two years ago.

There should be an academic study conducted on this thread.

In lieu of legitimate on the court complaints — we are 14-1 and clearly have a chance at hanging a 7th banner in May — our posters choose to attack each other instead.

I don’t see this consternation on the Rice Owls message board…

They also didn't have the amount of travel back then that today's teams have. Although I just looked at Michigan's schedule and it's actually not too bad. They go out west once to play Oregon and Washington back to back. They have UCLA at home and they already played USC at home. It's not like UCLA's schedule last year where they crisscrossed the country like 3 times and the leprechaun had a fit about it.
