January General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

St Johns lost to Providence. Looks like the xfrs they got were overated and they are not making tournament

When watching the game I asked "where the hell was Darryn Petersen?". It's like the announcers heard me and 30 seconds later stated that Petersen after a brief appearance missed almost all of the 2nd half.

I don't know what is going on with him or his handlers, family, and friends, but I have to think this is driving Kansas fans nuts. If he did this play-not play stuff and hold out of a few games at UConn I would go bonkers.

I expect the contracts to get a little tighter over the next couple of years because of guys like this and Hopkins (SJU).

Kansas has a very good team but this drama is really bad for them. Peterson is awesome but the players and coach need to know they can depend on him and they can't depend on him at all.
 
Florida State is terrible and Duke not exactly running away with this

At this point I wonder if his reluctance to play is going to hurt him in the draft. Softer than charmin. I think he’s being absurdly over cautious and NBA team should have character questions. It’s obvious he didn’t want to play college ball.

A really bad 2-0 stretch for them. Eeking out two wins against teams outside the top 100 has really killed their metrics. Down to 9 in KP.

Some posters will prob mock you for this take but I agree that he should’ve gone to the G league. imagine if he’d come to UConn instead of Silas…Reeds ankle caused more than a couple meltdowns, Ruff woulda been leading a mob with pitchforks and torches to campus.

Sean Miller letting Jordan Pope hijack his late game offense when he has Swain and Mark as much better options. This will probably be an NIT year for Texas if they lose this game in OT after they had it wrapped up.

There is a very long list of phenoms that lost all interest in playing or working hard when they got their rookie deal. The NBA definitely tries to avoid these kids.

If a top prospect doesn’t have an interest in playing college ball, that doesn’t strike me as a mark against him. The system forces him to go to Kansas or somewhere for a year. That’s not his goal. What fans think doesn’t change that

The track record of the “no play” players in the NBA is pretty bad. It is not a coincidence. Not playing is a sign they are afraid of getting exposed as frauds.

1/3 to half of first round picks are out of the league by the end of the third year. My money is that this guy is part of that group.
 
the pre-season pollsters didn't put enough respect on how good Florida's guards were last year, best collection of guards by a mile, you're not replacing that in one off-season. Currently down 10 in the 2nd half on the road to a Mizzou team that isn't that good, SEC is down this year but UF is probably going to be up and down all season even if they comeback and win this one.

The conf isn't as good as it was at its peak a few years ago but Boise State and San Diego State delivering a MWC After Dark classic, heading to 3OT after Boise trailed by 24 in the first half

Extremely weak sauce on your part buddy. You offered a bet then reneged when you got called on it. Bets are not negotiations. When you say “I bet x” and someone says I’ll take that bet, you don’t then get to change the terms and then call the other guy out. That makes you really, really lame.

I didn’t offer a bet, you asked for a bet. I replied with a counter. Your weak game might work with the idiots you normally hang out with, but I pick my bets, not you.

I'm going to be perfectly honest here without mocking you. Your schtick is getting very old. Just because someone says something negative about a Big East team doesn't mean they're saying the Big East is terrible. Just stop already. Please!
