I suspect that a lot of UConn fans have mixed emotions on the subject of Caroline’s return to active competition, whether it’s against Hungary tomorrow or during the regular season in November.I'm thinking she's done playing until the season begins
I think Ashlyn could be the sleeper in the group. A lot of attention has been given to the other players in this class but when you watch Ashlyn play she has an extremely high basketball IQ and sees the progression of plays way before most players will. The biggest question really is can she defend someone that is taller than her and if she can do that she will have a great career at UCONN.Noticed all the little things she does well including rebounding and setting picks. Always seems to be in the right place. Great midrange game. Haven't seen her take many shots but everything within 15' has gone in. Certainly not awed by the opportunity.
The cape!!! Don't forget the cape!At least you get to wear a tricked out turban.
Nesh??? I'm always wondering if BY posters invent these nicknames.
Thanks for posting. Any livestream likely for tomorrow's game ?
I thought she looked good in this game before the injury. She had some turnovers and missed all her 3s but they were all good looks. She made a couple nice passes, blocked a shot, and a made nifty move to the basket that just missed. Both games she moved well .I'm hoping that they had a plan for Caroline on this trip to let her play until she took a bump and then pull her to see how she responded. If they're legit surprised that she's "having" to come out of these games, someone is flirting with liability issues.
When Caroline is good, she is very good. Having her for a full and healthy season is big.I thought she looked good in this game before the injury. As others noted I thought Ines played well on both sides of the ball
Which is weird because Nika was the second best three point shooter on the team last season behind Lou's blistering 44%. Nika shot 34.3%, Azzi 34.0%, and Caroline 33.8%, but only one of those players gets crapped on for not being a good enough outside shooter. She also needs to put a lot of practice time into shooting 3's otherwise the "Nika can't score from the outside" crowd will be on her case.
I agree with your overall assessment. But there are a few things to keep in mind. There are no practices on the trip, hence no opportunities by the coaching staff to clean up game to game execution. In addition, substitution is frequent and free flowing, further limiting execution.Only got to watch a little into the 2nd Qtr, but in spite of the scores all is not well (and I know it's early for all of them) but, if anything we are worse on bunnies than we have been in the past and we weren't good previously---feel sorry for Nika as she set up 2 or 3 teammates for shots under the basket but no assists since the shots were missed.
KK wants to do one thing; drive to the basket and in these games her shots are pretty well unopposed . When we have actual games she is going to have NIKE printed on her forehead by centers who are over 6'0" She also needs to put a lot of practice time into shooting 3's otherwise the "Nika can't score from the outside" crowd will be on her case.
AE looks as good as last year but all in all through the first Qtr and a half, all of our perimeter shooters have some work to do. I hope they are not getting into bad habits because of the poor competition we have faced on this trip. Again, we have a long time before the season starts and I'm sure the coaches will get some of the carelessness out of their systems.
This looks like a fun, bonding trip, but beating up on The Little Sisters of the Poor isn't helping us to improve, but it has shown that all all the players who have been able to play will provide the best bench we have had in many years and I have heard that one of the walking wounded, a girl named Paige, if I remember correctly, it pretty good!
I don’t think anyone is crapping on Nika for not being a good shooter it’s her lack of attacking the rim is what she needs to improve on. In just these exhibition games you can see how KK has been able to break down D’s with her ability to get to the bucket. Can you imagine how effective that will be when Defenses have to stay on PB and Azzi on the wings or in the corners.Which is weird because Nika was the second best three point shooter on the team last season behind Lou's blistering 44%. I don't think we need Nika to look for her shot all that much sense there will be better scores on the floor. We just need her to score opportunistically. If people are laying off for double Azzi or Paige, and she has to take it vantage of that. That is well within the skill set she's already shown. To balance everything, Nika just has to take more shots, as she actually did last year. I just hope that with both Azzi and Paige on the floor she doesn't revert to being a pass only guard

Someone can’t count to four.
C'mon UConn Women's Basketball, surely you can count!
