I'm not getting all this anger directed at Bria

I don't like all the Bria bashing on this board, but I can understand why UCONN Fans, including myself are a little nervous that without the old Bria, UCONN has very little chance of winning the National Championship. In fact even with last years Bria Hartley UCONN still might not be able to beat Baylor or Notre Dame. I do know though that without a contribution from Bria, as well as Breanna and Kiah, UCONN has very little chance of beating the above mentioned teams.
And, guess what, without old Diggins, and McBride and Achonwa, Notre Dame does not have a chance. The knife cuts both ways.

DD... some people are paranoid, its laughable to me. I wonder if they ever played competive sports

DC I played competitive sports (baseball and fast pitch softball) until I was in my 40's. That's not counting golf 'cause my golf game would never be considered competitive and I don't include shooting sports because I never thought of it as athletics. I suspect most posters on the Boneyard played competitive sports at some level.

I believe that there is absolutley nothing wrong with criticizing an athlete's performance, especially one at such an elite level.

I've asked this before and never really got an answer - is it because they're girls? Is that why so many feel obligated to defend them? I'm in no way trying to start another pissing contest, I honestly don't understand.

If I'm paranoid it's because everybody is against me.

Since I started the thread, I'll answer the question.

If you've read the entire thread, you'll see that I don't object to criticism. It's the people making fun of Bria's attempts to shoot herself out of the slump, which is what shooters are told to do, and the literal anger at her as though she were purposely trying to hurt the team. She knows she needs to play better - everyone knows that - so I'm not sure why people need to project their anger onto her as though she were sabotaging the team.

For me, I would add the repetative posting of the same criticism. Over and over in the same thread, we are told that UConn can't win a championship without the old Hartley, the odds of her playing better are nil, etc.., etc. I Not only is that not true, it points a finger at one player.

Well, that's not me. You would know that if you lived within a city block. You would hear me screaming shoot the *&^@ ball every time Hartley or Doty hesitate on an open shot.

I'll confess I thought the few minutes in the second half where it was so obvious that the plan was get Hartley the ball were awful. I thought it a really stupid way to shoot out of a slump by putting even more pressure on Hartley.

I confess didn't read the entire thread. I find most of the hater/not hater threads predictable and usually boring. I only responded because DC called me a paranoid couch potato.

"Well, that's not me."

"DC called me a paranoid couch potato."

Are you denying the couch potato part?

It's basketball. It's really a waste of time. If we focused as much of our energy and resources on, say, education or building a healthier community, imagine how the world would change.
Wow, your priorities are really screwed up.

No one is suffering more than Bria.
I am appalled that so-called Uconn Fans, would bash a player who is going thru a shooting slump. It is time to support her and I DO.
Bria Hartley is a great basketball player! It's her passion and her joy. By her own admission, she thinks about it all the time. Just imagine what she's going through with this slump, at this time of year.
I have faith that Bria's effort will be rewarded with made baskets, completed passes and steals (and all the other stuff too). Tonight!
GO HUSKIES!

Permit me to plagiarize and paraphrase from another board ("Behind the Steel Curtain," Pittsburgh Steelers):

Some people think that [basketball] is a matter of life and death. We here on [the Boneyard] know it is much more serious than that.

[Post concluded, remove tongue from cheek.)

Bria Hartley has never gotten the recognition and support she deserves on this forum. Not quite sure why. Other than she doesn't get it from Meg either.

Can't believe there are people on the boneyard that take Meg's basketball comments seriously. She really doesn't have a clue. It is pretty clear that Bria's problems relate to her ankle injury. She probably adjusted her shot to compensate for ankle pain and now can't get the stroke back again. I am sure she will work out of it although, unfortunately, it might not be this season.
