here is whats going to happen to pc. your going to be in the big east/c7 league and finish bottom 4 6 out of every 10 years. but u will make a cool couple mil becuase gt plays nova and butler plays marq on fox/espn2 or where ever. providence is the wake forrest of a fball league. every once in a while you have a competitive year but mostly u bank scrilla based off other teams acomplishments, huge fanbases and relevant brands. if nova and gtown had and balls, they would send u and shu home to the mac and invite 2 better schools with bigger fanbases, winning cultures and good leadership or just stay at 10 and play 18 games h and h.

You're right UConn is a basketball school that gathers up enough guys off the street to go into Notre Dame and win and go down bowling and annihilate South Carolina and go down to Louisville a few months ago and beat a team that kicked the out some school known as the University of Florida.

u dont understand, providence created the big east and the office is in that city. its the meca of offices in college sports. providence campus is the closest to the office so its only right that they get paid for fball schools carrying the load. thank god penn state didn't get into this league. we would have to deal with both priest and sandusky. double trouble!

agree with your first point. uconn doesnt deserve the name over the other schools based on performance. however, it is the c7 schools leaving the big east. to suggest they deserve the name to take with them is wrong.

Not only winning more BE tourney and regular season championships, but also winning more NCAA credits than anyone and largely keeping the league alive after G'town became irrelevant. The BE was only a going concern for 33 years, and UConn only had a bad stretch of 6 years (it's first 3 years, UConn had winning and .500 records, look it up). Only Syracuse was more consistent, but not better. So of course UConn fans are making the case that they deserve the whole enchilada and that the C7 should get nothing (except the name).

One thing that might be a big downer in all of this is if Aresco jacks up the exit fees. Right now they are $5 million. If he jacks it up to $10 million or more, he is an arse.

On the other hand, it may all be irrelevant anyway. If UConn gets a bid, I'd encourage them to pay the whole $20 million enchilada like WV did and leave ASAP.

You are here waxing lyrical about a teeny short period between 1982-1985 when G'town was God. The early days lasted all of 5 years.

let me tell you, we would not be here today discussing the value of the BE if it were left up to the Catholics. The BE would be a blip on the screen of basketball history with hardly anyone thinking it was a big deal. G'town for instance went to 1 Final 8 from 1989 to 2007!!!!

Here's something else: the BE--during the entire period that UConn was carrying it and making sure it didn't fall off the face of the earth and become another A10 or worse--was being knocked in the media and hardly even considered a great bball conference. Let me tell you when the BE's rep really exploded: when Louisville, Cincy and Marquette were added. That's when the league's rep blew through the roof. Before that, it was all UConn and the others.

And, by the way, UConn not only has had more NCAA success than Georgetown, but they have won more total titles than Georgetown, both regular season and tournament.

The question and ongoing arguments are about should UConn, Cincy, and USF as the only current full members of the BE release the NCAA credits, discount any contractual exit fees, allow departing teams to leave early, and/or sell the BE name and trademarks to the C-7?

The short answer is why should they?

The longer answer is "no," on the credits, "Hell no," on the exit fess, "What's it worth to you," on leaving early, and "I don't think so," on the trademarks"

Other than leaving early, which is a cash deal, someone needs to explain to me what these schools gain by giving up their assets for free or pennies on the dollar.
